Chapter 12

It took all the courage within me to walk up to Aiden. I didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t want to have anything to do with him. But I was curious about what Wes said. I just wanted information and nothing more. This was not going to turn into anything else.

I tapped on his shoulder. He was in the middle of talking to Cory about something. I watched as Cory cleared his throat and nodded towards me. Aiden turned around and he looked surprised to see me. Then Cory walked off leaving the two of us alone in the hallway.

            “Um hey.” I said.

“Hey.” He repeated back to me. I noticed him staring and I looked away.

“Look, let’s just skip all the awkwardness. I have a few questions.”

            “Questions?”

“Anna and I aren’t on good terms right now-“

            “I’m not surprised.” He said.

I tilted my head to side wondering why he wasn’t surprised, but I continued. “So I’m asking you. Why did she slap you?”

He visibly tensed up. “You heard about that.”

“Yeah. I just want to know why.”

He sighed. “I said your name.”

“You said my name? When’d you- oh”  I said, suddenly understanding that he meant he called her by my name mistakenly probably during some form of sexual activity.

“It happened more than once.” He admitted.

“Okay,” There was an awkward moment of silence. I couldn’t look him in the eyes because I knew there would be that irresistible smoldering look there. “One more question.”

            “Anything.” He said.

“What do you know about Ethan hating me?”

“Ethan hating you? I have no idea. You should ask him.” Well he was no help there.

I scowled. “I don’t want to talk to him almost as much as I didn’t want to talk to you.”

            “I’m offended.”

            “Good.”

“You look nice today.” That was completely out of the blue.

I raised an eyebrow. “Thank you.”

“So who are you with now?”

            “No one.”

            “Oh.”

“Are you just trying to keep me here longer?” I asked suspiciously.

He let out a small smile. “You caught me.”

            “Miss me that much?”

            “I do.”

“Awww.” I said, turning around to walk away. “Well, you shouldn’t have let me go.”
