Shivering as the cool air hit my skin, I almost swore aloud. If it weren't for the my mothers voice rang through my head, reminding me about how I lady like swearing was. Like that had ever stopped her anyway. She had a tendency to swear like that sailors of the Titanic when my father was around and he was always laughing at my delicate mother swearing her head off. Silly Scottish man.
Walking through the darkened streets of Brooklyn, I couldn't decide whether it was dangerous or not. It was terrifying to walk among darkened houses that I knew when the lights were on. But some people change when the lights go out.
"Young ladies shouldn't be frolicking in the dark, Olivia. It's when the dangerous people come out." My mothers voice rang through my head. But like usual, I didn't listen.
"You know, it isn't safe for someone of your fairness to be outside and alone." A voice from behind me said. I stopped walking and smiled, watching the darkness.
"But I'm not exactly alone, am I?" Under the street light, I could make out the face of my companion as he stepped into it, revealing himself.
"I'm just watching out for you, Liv."
"I know. But you could be enjoying the New Years party instead of following me home. Or, stalking me really." I smirked and started walking again."How's it staling if you know I'm there?" James Barnes, or Bucky, ran to catch up to me and slid my arm through his, matching one long stride with three of mine.
"You are one ruddy cheeky one, you know?" Bucky shrugged as we walked through the streets.
"Where's Steve?" I mentioned one of our friends. He was a little guy. Small for his age.
"At home, wallowing." I hit Bucky's arm and rolled my eyes.
"He deserves to grieve, Buck."
"I know... But I want him to do something."
"like go to a New Years party where he'd get trampled? I'd prefer Steve in one piece, please." Bucky pushed me slightly and laughed."You never know, Miss Stone. You never know."

"You're doing what now?" I promise you that if I wasn't currently holding an ice pack to Steve Rogers head, Bucky would be eating ice right now.
"I leave tomorrow." Sargent James Barnes. He'd enlists for the army, leaving me to fret over Steve and him.
"When were you going to tell me?"
"In only found out today."
"You mean you only enlisted today." My heart raced in my chest, wanting me to say the words I had always wanted to say to him but they didn't come out. I could lose him."Promise me you'll come home then." I let Steve hold onto his ice pack and I stood in front of Bucky. " I let Steve hold his own ice pack and went to stand in front of Bucky, looking straight up at him. "Promise me."
He looked at me and didn't say anything. He stared at me intently, a look I had seen before from my father looking at my mother. Memorising her face.
"Come with us to the Stark Expo." He finally said, avoiding my answer. I almost laughed.
"If I know what you're like, James Barnes, you would of invited two girls in an attempt to double date with Steve. I'm not going to fifth wheel." Bucky chuckled but it didn't reach his eyes.
"Please? I need my girl there." He said in all seriousness.

The light blinded me before I even opened my eyes. It wasn't bright. But it annoying.
