Genuine Smile

I see you,

I see your smile,

I fathom the pain

deep and vile,

you hide beneath

your twinkling eyes,

accepting at times

yet in denial.

I sway

with every breath you take,

sighing out at your

masquerades,

I long to pull you in my arms,

to hear you breath

mild and calm.

Yet I am bound

I must refrain,

some promises

I made in disdain.

You talk to me

yet you are lost,

closer than all

farther than most.

The swirl the shine

your eyes did hold,

now seems lost,

your touch feels cold.

I would die to revive you,

to hold your hand,

To be with you

till world's end.

I'll bring you to my hearts isle,

and trace on your lips

a genuine smile.
