Matilda and Espen arrived at the castle by midnight and where presented to the king upon arrival. The king looked at the haggard witch with eyes full of disgust and with slight hope that she may be able to fix his son's "problem". He told her what was wrong with his son and then asked if there was anything she could do. Matilda looked at the king like he was the biggest fool to walk the earth. There was nothing the witch could not do, although emotions and love were a tricky task to handle. She knew she could fix the boy and have the king in the palm of her hand with one little spell.

The king watched as the witch's sour look turned into a crooked smile with jagged sharp teeth, yellow, and dead, with a few that appeared to be missing. She looked at him with her wickedest her dead eyes and with a scratchy old voice the women said "But of course your majesty, there is nothing I can't do, but it will cost you and it will come with conditions." "Name your price, I have more than enough gold to pay for your services" said the king "Oh no" began the witch, "I don't want your gold, it seems your boy will need somebody to rule alongside him, a queen, a beautiful girl that will capture the hearts of your loyal subjects, someone who can give your boy a family, someone like my precious Espen" the witch finished.

The king looked at Matilda Blackwood in complete shock. Then he considered her offer; looking off at the little girl playing with her toy there was no question that she would grow into a beautiful woman someday. He knew she would make a beautiful wife for his son and a wonderful queen for his loyal subjects. With one final look at the little girl he turned back towards Matilda ready to agree to her terms.

Before casting the spell to make it so Alexander never remembers meeting Max and sealing her daughter's fate, she warned the king of two things. One, if the deal is to be broken then whoever be king shall meet his end and the Kingdom will be turned over to her or her daughter(whoever be living), two, if (5)Alexander were to ever see Max again then the spell she was about to cast would be broken and there will be nothing anyone can do. With that Matilda castes her spell and Alex forgot Max forever –or so they believed.
