To say Max and Alex were shocked to see the haggard old witch would be the understatement of the century. Seeing her caused them both to snap out of there dopey love trans they were just living in mere seconds ago. The look she cased them would have had the devil himself tucking his tail and running from her in a matter of seconds. They both knew this was going to end badly for someone they just hoped it was for Matilda and not them.

Max's first instinct was to protect Alex at any cost, without even taking his eyes off the haggard beast for a moment, Max pulled the dagger from his boot and lunged for the witch's throat with ever intention to kill. Max was fast and agile shocking both Espen and Alex with his movement, sadly Matilda and her magic were much faster them him, half way through his lunge Max was hit in the side by a stage green and black fire from Matilda. Max dropped to the floor in agonizing pain as the strange green flames liked at the side of his torso, burned hotter than lava and hell fire mixed, sticking to his skin like sap from tree and bring more pain than he ever thought possible. Max could do nothing but screech in agonizing pain and wait for his death.

Alex fell toward his beloved Max in a state of shock one minute they were happy and in love and the next he was watching his love die by the hands of a monster with no remorse for her actions. Alex had no idea how to save Max but he did know he would do as much harm as he could to Matilda, his love was not going to die in vain. Alex picked up the dagger Max had dropped and began to rise from the ground with full intentions to kill the heartless old witch, again Matilda was ready to kill this boy as well raising her hand to set him afire, that was until Espen decided enough was enough and set out to stop her mother's wrath. Espen spewed out her spell out hopping she was strong enough to kill her. To both Espen's and Matilda's surprise the spell was in fact strong enough. Matilda fell to the ground like a heap of cloth screeching in pain as every bone in her body snapped like twigs one by one, only to end with her bursting into a pile of ash.

Espen meant the boys no harm and to prove this to them she put out her mother's spell and did all she could to save Max. It took several hours and many strange herbs and plants to fix's the large burn mark on the side of Max torso but by the end Espen had figured out what she wanted to do with her powers and managed to make friends with Alex and Max, when it was all said and done Max had nothing but a large pink Bloch on the side of his torso that would eventually go away in go away in a few days or so.
