Matilda had not changed all that much. She was still an old gray decrepit witch that looked how most would call death itself and still as wicked and evil as ever. Although the old bat did realize she would never truly rule the kingdom, she was sill hell bent on her daughter taking over in her place. Espen Blackwood had changed in the way that most would expect. She had grown taller and thinner in the way that most young women do, and she still had her silky light brown hair, large black doe like eyes, and ivory skin. She still understood why her mother was the way she was and why she trained Espen to follow her path, she knew why Matilda had chosen her daughter's future with little regard to what she may want.

Although for Espen understanding and liking were on two very different ends of the scale. Espen loved being a witch for it was all she knew. Well that, and that she had no interest in marrying some man and ruling some rinky dinky kingdom at only eighteen, mind you, the only real value the kingdom held for her was her home that laid deep in the Dead Woods. She had no, interest in being evil or in taking over the castle. 'Just because she was a wicked witch didn't mean she had to be evil'. But if she wanted to please her mother she would walk the path that had been chosen for her.

Matilda Blackwood was just slightly too pleased (even for the evilest creature to walk the earth) to hear the king had passed on and wasted no time getting her daughter ready to finally have what she never could: complete and utter power over the whole kingdom.
