Matilda and Espen had made it only half way to the castle when Matilda felt a sudden shift in the universe. She knew that her curse had to have been broken, meaning the new king had went and found 'his one true love' Matilda thought sickeningly. Espen watched in confusion as her mother's domineer turned even darker than usual. She watched as her mother lost her mind and began screeching about some little peasant boy ruining her chance of ever ruling the kingdom, and for the first time Espen was filled with a sense of joy. She saw an opportunity that suited them all, well, all but her mother maybe. Although that little voice in the back of her mind was screeching at her not to, Espen decided to voice this new idea to her mother. "Well," began Espen in a stranded tone, "why don't we just let the prince marry whoever he pleases and we just forget about me taking over the kingdom? Rulings is totally overrated anyway." Espen knew as soon as the word fell out of her mouth it might not have been the best idea to say this to her mother -who has thought of nothing but ruling. She was sure it wasn't when she looked into her mother's furious eyes and saw what could only be described as hell fire burning in them.
Espen had no other chose but to listen to her mother's long winded speech that was given at the top of her lungs about her being a fool and that if she had to kill every human in the kingdom her daughter would rule, even if it meant the death of her. Espen managed to stop herself from letting out the little thought: 'it might just be,mom' slip from between her lips as she continued on the path her mother chose, wondering how she could possibly get herself out of the mess her mother called a life.
