chapter 49

Walking straight into the place I once called home I feel the sadness lingering in the air still, even after all this time. I made the right decision by leaving, no matter how much it hurt me to do so. I just hope my son can forgive me.

I've learnt a lot whilst I've been gone. Mostly about my lycan and Leon. And soon the werewolf world will know of power, they'll sense it in their blood.

The sound of light innocent giggles snap me from my thoughts and in an instant my feet take me to the noise.

I stand in the doorway watching as jace chases him around with a pout, seems my son took his cupcake.

A small figure rams into my legs and I smile the widest of smiles knowing who it is. He knew I was coming. He knew all along, seems the moon was right.

Small sobs catch my attention and I bend down picking my baby up, hugging him tightly. Tears sprung into my eyes as his tears wet my top.

"Its ok baby. Mommy's here now..its ok" I whisper into his hair kissing his head. His little arms wrap around my head, his body shakes with his sobs and I feel my own heart breaking from the sound.

"You l-left me" he hiccups after minutes of crying, his bright blue eyes wet and bloodshot. Wiping tears from his face gently I take a seat on the couch with him still on my knee.

"To save you" I stroke his hair from his face and give him a small smile.

"But I wasn't in danger" he mutters.

"Do you remember hunter?" I ask him softly.

He nods. "He was my mate. But he marked another female" I explain gently, my heart no longer hurt from hunters actions.

"You left because you were dying" he frowns confused and I nod.

"Uncle Joey would have died also if she had marked hunter. So when he marked her I killed her before she could kill Joey, I survived because of you baby"

He looks at me in awe "but I didn't do anything" I shake my head grinning.

"Sweetie..you begged the moon every night to bring your mommy back. I saw your future, she did too and if I stayed with her you wouldn't be the same, my absence affected you badly in years to come. She took the chance of defying her own ways and she sent me back" I tell him softly. It was true.

"You mean I would be nasty like those men?" He asks wide eyed.

"You would have been but I would never let that happen, your heart is pure and with me around it always will be. Don't ever blame yourself for me leaving"

"If she defied her own ways that means he's unstoppable when he's alpha" jace speaks up confused and happy to see me. But not shocked.

I look at him shaking my head. "Not completely" I tell him softly.

"She sent me back here for a few reasons" I inform him before he can say something that'll upset Leon.

"Look..I can never thank you or dad enough for what you did. If there's anything you ever need then let me know" I say softly flashing him a small smile.

"Don't sweat it" he shrugs but smiles back at me.

"How's Joey doing?" I ask knowing he must be angry at me.

He grimaces "drinking all the time"

"I'll fix it" I reply standing with Leon still attached, I'm not ready to let him go again even for a minute.

Once I was outside Joey room I barged in knowing he wouldn't answer if I knocked.

"LEON I TOLD YOU I-" he begins to shout furiously until he turns and sees who it is.

"Scar" he whispers and I glare at him darkly.

"You told him what?" I ask with a voice of steel.

"I don't want to play his stupid games" he tells me uncaring. Placing Leon down I walk towards him.

"So this is your life? Drinking yourself to death for the sake of some girl you didn't even want?" I ask him standing in front of him.

"She was my mate" he fumes.

"She allowed my mate to mark her. I stopped you from being killed, you wouldn't have survived the pain"

"You don't know anything about me!" He hisses in my face standing up. Shoving his chest he falls back into his seat.

"Your wrong. The moon showed me everything you've ever felt and thought, your dreams, even your hopes. I gave you a second chance at your mate Joey..don't waste it" I tell him sighing.

His eyes widen and his anger drops instantly. "Nobody meets the moon. Unless..unless the rumours are true. But then Leon would be..shit" he curses looking from me to Leon.

"Correct" I state.

"Why did you give me a second chance?" He asks softly.

"Because I killed your first to save my son"

"What happened to hunter?" He asks curiously.

"He's alive, the moon has plans for him" I shrug.

"And you? Do you get another chance?" He asks quietly.

I shake my head. "No, not unless the moon chooses to" his eyes meet mine and he looks at me with guilt and remorse.

"You gave your chance to me didn't you" he asks well more like stated.

"As long as my son is with me I don't need anyone else" I shrug slightly.

He stands from his chair slowly "how can I ever repay you?" He asks.

"You can start by treating my son like your nephew and apologising" I state frowning.

"Done" he says instantly flashing me a smile. The guilt of his wolfs actions towards me causes his next move and his arms quickly wrap around me. I stiffen instantly as its the first time someone other than Leon has managed to come into contact with me.

Shoving him away roughly without realising the force I used sent him flying into his wall. He groans as he hits the floor and slowly stands looking at me confused.

"Don't touch me. Ever" I growl swinging Leon into my arms.

"Noted" he grunts rubbing his back.

"When the hell did you get so strong?" He mutters grumpily. I shrug silently.

When I had to fight off lust filled men.

"Are you still bonded with hunter?" He asks and I can tell he wanted me to be, yes he's been a dick lately but everything's fine now. He wants me to be happy even if it is with someone who marked his mate as their own.

"He marked Sophia, so no. However he will still feel some emotion for me as I'm the one who got rejected" I tell him sighing. I thought I loved him. But my dream was nothing more than that, a dream. Only children dream and I was naive to think he'd love me out here like he did whilst I slept.

"So you feel no connection to him?" He frowns.

"No" I reply smiling a little to reassure him im alright. He feels guilty for taking my second chance but he deserved it more than me, I've already requested that his mate should be a male anyway.

"If you ever need anything, let me know" he smiled sadly, I nodded simply.
