Anna's POV
My throat burned as the pipping hot coffee ran down. I placed the cup down looking at the boy in front of me. When I met him he was a happy-go-lucky kid who had his whole life ahead of him. He had dreams and happiness and I took all that away. I can see it in his eyes, though he won't say it out loud, that he is worried. Worried for me, his friends, his family and himself. Why did I ever drag Harry into my terrible life.
"Are you sure it was them?" He asked, putting down his muffin.
"Positive, my mother visited me before moving on and told me what they looked like and when they saw me they ran like a prostitute in church!"
Harry grinned before turning serious again. "So what are we going to do?" he asked.
"We?" I frowned, putting my empty cup ion the table.
"Yeah, are we telling the police or going after them ourselves? I mean how do you explain your dead mother-"
"Hold on a second Harry! What do you mean we?"
"Well I helping you catch these bastards!" he said.
"Harry, I'm pulling you into this! You don't have to risk yourself for me!"
"Anna, your mother was just as much a mother to me as she was to you. I asked her if-" he stopped dead in his sentence.
"Asked her what?"
"Nothing, it is not important right now." he shrugged it off.
"Harry-"
"So what is the plan?"
I sighed, knowing I'm never going to win this war. Harry is as stubborn as mule. "Fine. I say we started by getting Cass. She may not be a ghost anymore but she knows where they all hang out, something they never told me. Humans aren't supposed to be there."
"She is at the hotel room. What about the boys?"
"They don't need to know. I'm not endangering them. Tell them we are staying another week to visit my family."
"Ok, I'll text them. Then what?"
"Then we find those bastards." I smiled.
Cass' POV
"Let me get this straight. You want me to bring you to Ghost Ally? Are you nuts!? They will not be happy!"
"Cass this is important!" Anna said.
I looked at her over my coffee cup, something I thought was a thoughtful gift of friendship but was really a bribing tool, "And you are one hundred percent sure they were the men who killed your mother?" She nodded, looking at Harry. "Fine." I sighed, "I'll do it."
"Thank you Cass!" Anna smiled. "When?"
"Tonight, it is Friday, everyone will be there."
"Now. Let's make you guys look like ghosts!" I smiled.
Anna's POV
I feel ridiculous. I have so much make up on my face if I scratch it you can see claw marks and my cloths look like they are from the 80's! "Now you look like proper ghosts!" she winked looking between me and Harry. We both have paler skin so we don't look out of place.
"What if they recognize me?" I asked.
"Then go with the flow." she smiled, "Now let's get going."
We followed her out of the hotel and to the car she rented and piled in. We drove for what seemed like hours until we were far out of the city. We drove up a dusty road and saw a small town up ahead.
"What is this place?" Harry asked, looking out the window as we drove.
"Old town abandoned about fifty years ago." Cass said, pulling into the parking lot of an old bar. The new Ford Focus looks out of place in the abandoned parking lot of dust. "Let's go." she smiled.
I took Harry's hand, leading the way so he doesn't run into anyone, Cass following right behind me, it is hard when you are the only person who can see the people around you.
I pushed open the door and walked in. A small smile appeared in my face as I recognized the Star Wars Canteena music playing in the background, my inner nerd is happy with the ghost community.
I walked up to the bar, pulling Harry with me and sat down. Behind the bar is an old man. He has glasses like Harry Potter and wisps of grey hair sitting neatly on his head. "What will it be?" he asked, cleaning a glass. Harry was starring at the, what he saw, was a floating glass getting cleaner and cleaner.
I looked to Cass and she smiled, "Three orange juices please."
"Coming right up." Cass and Harry sat on either side and we all received our glasses. "So Cassidy, what are you doing here, I thought you were human." the man said leaning over the bar.
"Unfinished business." she smiled. "Where is Paul?"
"In the back, he won't be happy you brought Warm Bloods though." the man said, pointing to a door in the back.
"When is Paul ever happy with me?" she winked. I followed her as she was cursed out by a man in a prison suit as she walked through him.
"Cass-"
"Come in here." she smiled, pushing the door that said Manager on it and walking in. The room was fairly large with a big desk made of oak and a single lamp sitting on it, shining on the transparent ghost sitting behind it.
"Cassidy, what are you doing here with Warm Bloods the man said. A closer look showed that he was in this twenties, wearing a suit and a bright red tie and a flower in it, a gold wedding ring was wrapped around his finger.
"We have a question for you." Cass said, pulling up three chairs. "These are my friends, Harry and-"
"Arianna King." he smiled, leaning close enough that I could see the lines in his bright blue eyes. Harry's hand tightened on mine.
"I prefer Anna." I said, looking into his eyes.
"I see, well Kendra was a wonderful lady," Paul carried on, "A pity she is dead."
"Actually that's what we needed to talk to you about." I said.
"I know nothing of Kendra's death/" Paul said, sitting back in his chair.
"I can tell you are lying." I said bluntly. "Your eyes are turning gold."
"Blasted eyes." he grumbled as I smirked in victory.
"Now, what do you know about my mother's death?"
"I know it wasn't natural." he said, giving in, "I was in fact talking to her the day she died, I left her house only to come back to the bar and see her sitting there. It was strange, only ghosts know of the bar, not even your kind knows." he said, sneering at her.
"So I take it you don't like seers?" I questioned.
"I think you people meddle in things that not ought to meddled in. Your powers are unatural."
"But you liked my mother?"
"She was- a friend of mine."
"How did you know her?"
"Hello Arianna, I am Paul King, your grandfather."
