Todd Stedston had a job to do. He was a hired assassin. His orders were to kill a boy that would supposedly be along this street later today. He was also to kill a few other people to make it seem like he didn't have one target in particular. He was currently on top of a ten story office building. After the boy was dead, Todd would wing suit off the building, and to safety to collect his payment before fleeing the country. He chuckled to himself while he prepped his massive rifle.

"Half a million dollars all in a day's work. This couldn't be better."

Todd looked at his silencer. He tossed it away. He wanted the boy to hear it. He wanted him to feel pain. He decided the first shot wouldn't be the killing one.

He needs to suffer. Todd hardened his gaze and propped the rifle against the side of the roof. He put his eye to the scope, and scanned the street.

Jay walked down the sidewalk. The bag he had in his left hand bumped against his legs as he walked. The bag contained fabric for Lexi's new curtains she was planning to make. He was headed toward the jewelry store to pick up the necklace that Lexi had ordered for an elderly woman that Lexi had met at a wedding.

Jay sighed. The day still had many hours to go. He rounded the corner. Something shiny caught his eyes. It was a red dot. Jay headed toward it curiously.

The dot traveled toward him slowly, moving up his body and settling on his heart.

What the...

His eyes widened when he realized what it was. He threw him self to the ground, just as the car window parked on the street next to him burst. Jay left the bag and took off at a sprint, as more shots fired, they rained down around him, shattering windows, and hitting the pavement.

People were screaming, some in fear, others in pain, and others were just screaming. Most people were running. Jay ducked behind a car. Most people had fled the area. Jay looked around. There was a women laying a few yards away with blood pooling around her fallen body. She didn't look like she was breathing. Jay crept to the front end of the car. There were police sirens in the distance. Jay took a deep breath, and bolted from the safety of the car, and ran, unknowing that he was running straight toward the gunman.

The bullet hit him in the side of the abdomen. Jay gasped and pressed his hand to try and stop the blood that was leaking through his fingers.  Jay stumbled, and fell, his head cracking on the pavement. The pain was just a dull throb as bright spots danced in front of his eyes.  Through the haze, he saw a figure jump from a building, and seemingly fly through the air.

The sirens grew louder, but Jay closed his eyes, and everything went black.
