Chapter 8-
-That evening-
Seth and I sat in a diner. We'd been sitting here for a while just talking and having a good time. But by the time our food had arrived, I was ready to leave. Seth sat in front of me, scoffing his food down his throat. Me, just simply poking at it wondering if it was alive or not.
"Heidi, you still upset?" Seth asks looking up from his plate. I drop my fork, startled at the sudden sound of his voice.
"Just thinking too much still. I can't seem to get my mind off of either of them," I whisper, staring out into the night.
"Come on. I want to show you something," Seth smiles dropping money on the table, taking my hand and walking out of the diner.
"Where are we going, I giggle as I climb into the car and pull on my seat belt.
"Its a surprise," Seth chuckles, sitting and starting the car.
* * *
"We're almost there, so close your eyes,"Seth smirks and my eyes fall closed. I feel the car shift into park and Seth helps me out. I shiver at the touch of his hands to my shoulders as he helps me to walk in the desired direction.
"Keep your eyes closed," Seth whispers. I grin and clench my eyes tighter.
"Okay, look," Seth breathes. My eyes pop open and flourish with tears.
"Do you-- why are you crying?" Seth's smile drops in a blink of an eye as he steps before me.
"This...is where me and Adam went on our first date and shared our first kiss," I cry quietly. I slowly start to walk until I reach a small lake that glistened in the moonlight.
"I remember this place all too well," I mumble as a tear slides off my cheek and drips into the lake. The ripples then fade slowly and what's left is caught by the slight breeze that picked up.
"Heidi, I-I'm so sorry. I didn't know this would bring back more memories. I thought it would be nice to get out of the house." Seth goes in to a panic.
"No, its fine Seth. I-is it okay if I sleep here tonight. I know that sounds weird, but I'm used to sleeping outside. I want to be completely alone," I cry, leaning against the tree beside me.
"Sure. Whatever you want. I'll be back for you in the morning. Take care of yourself,' Seth murmurs, hugging me tightly, to then release me and go home.
"Why is it that when I'm with Seth, he brings back memories of him. But when I'm with Kevin, I forget completely about both of them? I don't understand. I want to love Kevin. Seth is more of an older brother to me. But I will always cherish what I shared with Adam."
