Marissa Potter 6 - Marissa's POV

I walked behind Norbert and Remus, who were chatting like best mates, while I talked to Bella. It turns out we both love music, drama and singing, both hate garlic and onions, and both love spicy curry. We also both had the same colour green eyes. We certainly had a lot in common.

Up at Hogwarts, we walked through the elaborately decorated gates. We reached the huge wooden door and Norbert gave three loud knocks.

Knock, knock, knock.

The door creaked open magically and the first year group trudged their way in. An aged professor in tartan robes walked briskly up to us.

"Wait here. I'm Professor McGonagall. I'll take you through soon," she recited and stepped behind another set of massive doors.

"Woo, hoo," Bella said sarcastically. "More standing in the cold."

"I was just thinking that!" I squealed. "We do have a lot in common!"

"Yeah!" Bella laughed, "Yeah, we do!"

"Not cold, anymore?" Remus smiled.

"Course I am," Bella sighed, wrapping her arms back around her.

"You would be now I've said that!" Remus rolled his eyes.

"Children!" McGonagall said, entering the hall again. "You may go through."

The cluster of firsties walked through the huge doors and gasped. I looked up at the ceiling to see stars littering the roof.

"I love this sort of thing," I said happily.

"So do I," Bella said. "We might as well be twins, we've so much in common."

We strode up to a three-legged stool which held a very battered, very old Sorting Hat.

"It looks ready for retirement," I whispered to Remus and Bella, who giggled quite loudly.

"Armstrong, Lucie!"

Gryffindor.

"Boon, Lottie!"

Hufflepuff.

More people passed and I became more and more nervous. I glanced, scared, at Scorpius, who gave me a motivating smile.

"Mann, Jessy!"

Hufflepuff.

A few more people passed. Bella whispered to me jokingly; "Goodbye and I hope you enjoy Slytherin!"

It was a joke, but it made my heart race.

"Malfoy, Marissa!"

I walked up to the stool, and placed the Hat on my head. I watched my hand tremble. It was the last thing I saw before I closed my eyes hopefully.

The Hat pondered on my every thought, memory and ability. I left him (was it a him?) to it as he worked it out. He said to me;

"Another Malfoy, huh? A whole family, generation after generation, in Slytherin."

I nodded slightly as the Hat opened it's mouth to yell:

"GRYFFINDOR!"
