Chapter Eight: I'm Not Going Anywhere

"Beck, where are you." I asked her as I started the truck and pulled out of the driveway. Sam and Aaron exchanged worried glances from the backseat.

"I'm on the road to my families wood house. Sam knows how to get there." she told me. Her crying had subsided a little now that she knew we were going to go help her.

"Sam, I need directions on how to get to Rebekah's family wood house," I called after moving the phone a little bit away from my mouth so I wouldn't cause Beck's eardrums to spontaneously combust.

"Alright, just drive to her house and then I'll tell you how it's different." he told me.

"Michael?" Rebekah croaked from the phone.

"Yeah Beck?"

"Can you stay on the phone with me until you get here?" she asked. I smiled a tiny bit.

"Of course. I'm not going anywhere. Not this time."

"Alright, take a left on the side of her house. This is the path that will take you to her wood house. It's kind of bumpy." Sam told me.

"You hear that Beck? We're on the path. We'll be there in a minute or two." I told her.

"I'm sitting in the van." was all she said. The line went dead with a small click. I gripped the steering wheel tighter and sped up slightly. I heard Aaron make a noise of pain from the back.

"You're kind of jostling us around back here, Mike." he said.

"Sorry, we just need to get over there before she calls the police." as I told Aaron that, I saw Sam's van ahead of us. I stomped on the breaks and quickly put the truck into park. There Rebekah was, sitting in the front seat with the door wide open. She was leaning her head on the steering wheel.

"Sam, Aaron, get the body into the back of the truck and wrap it in the tarp." I shouted over the rain. By the time I got over to where Beck was sitting I was completely soaked through.

I put a hand on he shoulder. "Becca? You alright?" I asked her. My hair was sticking to my forehead from the rain. Rebekah jumped at my touch.

"I killed him, he's dead because of me." she whispered. I noticed she was still wearing my shirt.

"Sam! Can you drive the van over to her house and grab some things for her? Including what she needs to study with you tomorrow?" I called to him. I heard him shout a yes. "Good, as soon as you grab everything head back over to Aaron and I's place. Got it?" Sam nodded before I tossed him the keys to his van. I scooped Rebekah up in my arms and carried her back over to the truck.

"Is he in the back?" I asked Aaron after I had set Beck in the passenger seat.

"Yeah, let's get moving." he replied. "Wait, does that mean that she triggered the..." Aaron trailed off. I sighed deeply as I started to drive back the way we came.

"Yeah, it does." I told him.

"Michael, tonight is the-" he started.

"I know, Aaron! Let me handle this alright?" I cut him off angrily. "I'll tell her later. But right now we need to get her to Charlie. Let her dry off so she doesn't get sick."

"Michael?" Rebekah whispered.

"Yeah Becca?"

"I don't feel right. Something feels wrong. I'm really hungry and I am sweating. What's happening to me?" she asked. I blew air out between my teeth.

"I'll explain everything later, alright?"

"Alright," she whispered. Out of the corner of my eye I saw her lean her head against the window and close her eyes.

I was sitting next to Rebekah on the couch in the back room. Charlie had just came in and gave her a steaming mug of hot chocolate and a blanket. Aaron walked in through the back door. Charlie tossed him a towel.

"The body is hidden out in the woods, not even I remember where it is." he told me.

"Good. Now we just wait for Sam to get here." I said. Rebekah leaned towards me and rested her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her.

"I am so tired. Can I please sleep?" she asked.

"Of course Beck. Go to sleep. I'll wake you when Sam get's here." I told her quietly. Rebekah nodded off to sleep right after I told her she could.

"Is she asleep?" Charlie asked me. I nodded. Charlie sat down on the arm of the couch while Aaron was getting dry behind us.

"We could just let her go home. If she does transform because of the full moon, she probably won't remember anything and her parents will just think she went to a party in the middle of the woods. We won't have to tell her just yet, since I know you want to tell her the right way." Charlie suggested.

"I don't think we can do that this time, Chuck." I said sadly. I looked down at Rebekah, whose breathing was even as she slept on my shoulder.

"I think we can just let her have my room for the night, and then in the morning we'll be there to get her back in the house. She won't even think anything happened. And then I can tell her and show her." I said. Aaron shook his head.

"I don't like this, covering up the truth. From either of them. They both deserve to know. Sam just helped us clean up a dead body for Heaven's sake! The least we could do is tell them, and if we have to, leave. We could go back up to Jared's pack and ask if he knows where Teresa is. We could join her." Aaron said.

"We can't leave now, not with Charlie pregnant. Maybe after the baby is born. But even then, it's not safe for either of them. Charlie won't be up to full strength and we'll all have a baby to try and protect. We have to stay put for a while, Aaron. Besides, can you really imagine us listening to Teresa's orders? We're all Alphas, Aaron. It would never work." I told him.

"Sam's here," Aaron said. I guessed that was the end of our agrument.
