We pulled onto the parking lot and she parked the car near the door. I looked through the large glass windows on either side of the main doors.
"Ready?" She asked as we both clicked to release the seatbelts.
"Let's do it."
We opened our car doors simultaniously and stepped out. We literally looked like we were in a movie. The wind pushed our hair back, we pulled our sunglasses over our eyes, and we took one step in front of the other. The sun was setting in front of us, which was weird to me because it was only somewhere around 6:30 in the evening, and this was putting a gorgeous glow on our skin.
We made our way to the front door and they automatically opened. The wind stopped and we pushed our shades on top of our heads while walking in. We looked at each other and started cracking up, both thinking the same thing.
Why aren't we celebrities?
We continued walking in, and Laelah grabbed a cart from near the door. As she was backing out, I scrambled from my position and leaped into the cart, quickly pressing my back against the area there a child or a purse would sit. I flattened that and put my heels against the opposite end and spread my knees for the ultimate amount of comfort.
"Off we go!" I yelled, pointing to the rest of the store.
She giggled and ran through the building while she pushed me and my laughing self around, making sharp turns that nearly knocked the cart over. We were making circles around a few isles until we made it to the heath and beauty section. We still rushed down as I pulled critical things from the shelves and plopped them onto my lap.
A jar of scrub stuff, a nail file, new razor blades, face mask, and we stopped at the hair dye.
"Which box do you normally get?"
"Um," She furrowed her eyebrows and pressed her lips together, "This one?"
Her face reminded me of my own when I had to really concentrate on something.
"You don't sound very sure..."
"I know, just give me a second," She said.
I stood in the cart and pulled a few of the boxes, examining them at a closer range. It wasn't the black, dark burgundy or the knock-off random color.
"Hey Laelah, come here real quick," I told her as I grabbed another box. I pulled a piece of her hair up to the top of the box, smiling when I knew I found a match.
"Is that it?" Laelah asked as I let go of her lock of hair.
"Yep," I popped the 'p', "Midnight black is your shade."
"You're a lifesaver... I like this shade," She pointed to her hair.
I dropped the box into the cart as I was begining to carefully sit once again. Then came on my current favorite song. I shreiked and began to dance as the beat picked up.
I kid you not, I probably looked like a white girl at a dance.
Like that one girl who just goes, 'Ooh! This is my song! Come on guys, this is my song we have to dance! This is my time to shine, let's go!' And then makes her way to the middle of the floor, forms a circle around her and her friends, then makes a complete fool of herself.
Yep, that was me.
"Laelah! Dance with me!"
She scoffed, putting her hand out like you do with the 'talk to the hand' motion, "I have too much dignity for that."
I shrugged and continued to dance with very slight movements, trying to prevent falling and face-planting onto the tile floor. When the song ended, I closed my eyes and took a bow and quickly sat back in the cart. I glanced at Laelah and we erupted into laughter. I heard some slow clapping and I turned to face the sound.
