Ending Speculation

Elijah and I were always out and about, doing professional and nonprofessional things. We did constant interviews and press events for Eternal Sunshine, which were a lot of fun. Kristen, Mark, and Jim congratulated us on our engagement, and vowed not to share the news with the public. I was glad I could trust them, even though they weren't close friends. Elijah and I just didn't tell them about my pregnancy. We felt that would be too much for them, since we planned to eventually tell the public about our engagement and leave out my pregnancy.

The press and public were already becoming suspicious of us. Whenever Elijah and I went on a lunch date to discuss plans and such, a hoard of Paps were close behind, observing our every moment. The magazines and celebrity blogs and shows had a billion pictures of us and my ringed hand, trying to determine if it was an engagement ring. Some people mentioned a thing or two about us, and we'd laugh and provide a vague answer, changing the conversation if we could. I loved how my ring didn't have a normal design; it fit my unique personality and kept the outside world guessing for weeks. Elijah just knew me so well.

It was funny how the Eternal Sunshine premieres were right after the Oscars. Elijah and I were so busy during the month of March, and we had to somehow do most of our wedding planning, since the wedding was about a month away. I sent measurements for my family in Ireland, and I grimaced at my increasing numbers. I really had to go dress shopping for the Oscars for something that didn't highlight the changes on my body. I dragged Mandy with me, trying on a bunch of dresses until we found the perfect one.

"You should totally wear an emerald or forest green dress. It'll look so good with your hair and your skin and your eyes..." Mandy's voice trailed off as she imagined me as a vision in brilliant, dark green.

I laughed and browsed through more dresses. "If there's one to hide everything," I joked. We finally settled on five to try on, and in a flash I was shoved to the nearest fitting room.

"Go go go!" Mandy barked, impatiently tapping her foot in wait.

I rolled my eyes. "Calm down, Mandy. The dresses aren't gonna run away or anything."

"Hurry up!" she whined, "I wanna see the dresses!"

I wore all of them, coming out the fitting room every five minutes to show Mandy. One was too loose and another one made me look like I had sagged boobs. Another dress was so tight on me that I could barely breathe. "Oh," I gasped, "this one is the worst! I can feel the baby getting squished to death in there!" The dress was amazing, but if me and the baby couldn't breathe, then forget it.

Mandy wistfully sighed. "You're so lucky. I wish I was pregnant."

"I just want it all to be over," I admitted, "over with the baby right in my arms."

"You guys decide on names yet?" I shrugged as I came out in another dress. "Ugh," Mandy crinkled her nose, "the waist looks weird on this one. Like you have an extra hip implant or something." She shook her head and shoved me back in there. "Sorry; go on."

"Oh...um...not really. All I know is that if it's a boy, then we'll name him Connor, after my dad. I don't know if it's a girl, though..."

I spoke as I slipped a dress over my head. I actually liked this one; delicate gold details laid on the bodice, and a huge golden circle brought the low v-neck down together at the front of my waist. I loved how it was right on my stomach, so it hard to notice its slight growth. The dress was also floor length, allowing my toes to peek out. I don't know why, it just looked so regal and majestic. I really wanted it.

Mandy gasped when I appeared in front of her. "This!" she squealed in delight, "Elijah is gonna fall head over heels in love with you! And you're gonna look so amazing when you accept your Oscar!"
