ELIJAH'S POV GUYS ;)
Kat and I really didn't want to fly up to Iowa, but we didn't have the time to drive. It would have been so much fun and under the public radar. Driving all the way up to Iowa would take forever, though. I didn't mind spending all that time with my Kat, but the wedding was only a couple weeks away, and we still had a lot to do. We already sent out invites and the RSVP list was almost complete, and we already had her outfit and the venue taken care of. We both decided on a little scenic place in a flowery, forested part of SoCal, where we were going to have both the ceremony and reception. Kat insisted on an outdoor wedding, and I wholeheartedly agreed. I honestly didn't care where we were married, as long as we got married. I was just excited to be spending the rest of my life with her. I mean, we already did that as friends, but marriage ensured that nobody could take her from me, that she was mine and no one else's.
Kat really wanted to get the cake done in Iowa instead of a grand one from a glitzy LA shop, which was so amazing. She said it was because she wanted to incorporate a piece of Iowa in our wedding, but I think she really wanted something simple and beautiful. She never really fully embraced the rich and obnoxious lifestyle of famed celebs, because she thought it was meaningless and silly. Man, she was so perfect. I was so lucky to be marrying Kat, my true best friend and love.
We took a super early morning flight, so less Paps could see us. LAX was barely busy that early, so we could quickly get through security and onto the plane without major problems. Now that the public knew the truth of us, Kat wasn't shy of affection. She rested her head on my shoulder and held my hand in the midst of stares. Once we were mostly alone, she would touch her stomach, fondly stroking it in thought. I knew she was thinking of the baby, the one that was actually going to survive for the whole nine months. I was so relieved when Kat told me the news, that she was going to be okay. My poor Kat was so heartbroken when she had her miscarriage. I was glad she was getting what she wanted. She deserved it.
Iowa appeared in the late afternoon. The last time I was here I was eight, when we moved away. I was amazed at all the open space. Kat was so surprised when we drove down almost-empty roads, because she was so used to LA traffic. I had to admit, it felt so good to have fresh air like this. LA was always so busy and occupied that it could sometimes get annoying. This was a whole different place.
"I love our venue in LA," Kat sighed as she leaned back in the seat, "but I wish we could get married over here."
I chuckled. "It's so quiet, isn't it?"
"There's no honking," Kat smiled to herself, stroking her stomach again, "everything here is serene and perfect."
"Wait til we hit town."
"Oh, I bet it's better than LA."
I nodded, hearing her yawn. "You tired, Kitty Kat?" No answer. "Wanna sleep? I'll wake you up when we get there." We were staying at my cousin Malcolm's house for the next few days, which was an hour away from the airport. All my other family lived close by, but Malcolm was the closest to the airport. I insisted on sleeping in a hotel so they wouldn't be bothered, but Malcolm was strongly against it. Besides, his wife was a big fan of Kat's works. Malcolm thought it would be great for her to meet and hang out with Kat in person.
"Hm?" Kat drowsily closed her eyes, embracing the coolness in the air.
"Why don't take a power nap?" I suggested again, "you love those."
"The baby is pretty tired," she yawned, reclining the seat back all the way. I smiled at her and reached over to squeeze her hand, feeling her squeeze it back.
We arrived at Malcolm's little farm house in the evening, parking the car beside the big, open fields. I knew my uncle Phillip, his dad, used to own the farm before he passed, but Malcolm wasn't a farmer. He just loved living out in the country. It was actually really beautiful and peaceful. I mean, not as beautiful as Kat, but perfect enough. Nothing could ever surpass Kat when it came to beauty.
