The Unexpected

Chapter Nine

 I can't believe that Lucas knows how I feel I mine it could be worse, he could have found out about the dreams. I still couldn't believe that he said that he have felt the same way about someone else, like how didn't I know and who did he have feelings for.

 I couldn't let this distract me from our plan tonight even though I was stuck with Lucas for tonight. I mean it was hard to not be distracted but I had to think of my responsibilities. Even though my friends were werewolves and my mom is a hunter, I still feel the urge to protect them no matter how strong they are. Lucas started to smell something and just asked me if I knew what that smell was and I was just so confused because I didn't smell anything and I told him no and he just looked at me," Are you kidding me Nova. You have had these heighten senses for a bit now and you still cant smell anything." I can't believe he was nagging me like I was supposed to be some master at being a werewolf, like hold up I am not him I haven't been a werewolf for as long as he has. I just stop," Oh, so I guess now that you know about my little secret you can nag me." He stopped and looked at me," Nova, I'm not nagging you I was just trying to see if you could smell what I was smelling and that was all. Wait a second I am the only one who knows about you having a so called "crush" on me, Adrian doesn't even know. I feel so special."

 I just roll my eyes at him and tell him to keep walking and that we have to focus or whatever this thing is that we are looking for comes up and kills us both. So we continued walking and listening and we heard something so of course like the alpha Lucas he is he decides to run to it so I follow him. We start running and then I run into Andrea and Lucas runs into Adrian. I just smile at Andrea because I was so happy to not be around Lucas for a couple minutes. I asked her what they were doing here because this was where we were supposed to be and she seemed panicked when she answered me," We saw it but we didn't know how to contact you guys so we ran over here." Out of no where Lucas runs up to her. I could tell that he was mad mainly because he was yelling at her saying that she should have howled and we would have came.

 I told Lucas to back up and that they didn't know that with howling we could track them. He just looks at me and I instantly become terrified because he has never been this mad. I tell him to sit down to chill out and I go over to Adrian," Hey man you ok? It's not your fault ok you didn't know and where did you guys see this thing." He looked at me with a face that I have never seen on him," I don't want to be like this Nova. I never asked for this, unlike like your stupid girlfriend over there that made me into  a werewolf." I couldn't believe that he would say that even though he was mad," Are you being serious right now Adrian it's not her fault if it's anyone's fault it's mine." Of course things got worse it was less than a minute before Andrea was up and yelling in Adrian's face.

 Lucas finally got us all to be quit by growling or yelling, I couldn't really tell the difference when it came to him. We all looked at him and he told Andrea and Adrian to go back to their spot so they can howl if that monster is still there.  Now that we are all separated again I figured it would be a good time to ask Lucas why he was so made," Lucas why were you so mad at them for not howling?" He stopped in his tracks," Nova I want to find this thing and kill it. You have never felt what its like to lose someone apart of your pack and hopefully you wont have to." I look at him," Lucas I'm sorry I just keep forgetting about your old pack I just keep thinking that we were your first pack for some reason." We stood in silence for a couple of minutes and as soon as Lucas was about to say something we heard Adrian howl.

We began to run towards them and before I saw them I smelt something that was so familiar but It couldn't be possible, so I quickly clear the scent out of my head.  As soon as we got there the beast had Adrian and Andrea pinned up against the tree and it looked like Andrea was knocked out and of course being my dumb ass I run to them and the beast turns around and knocks me back about five feet. I am fine but I become more worried about Adrian and Andrea but Lucas wouldn't let me get hurt so he would distract this monster so I can run and check on them. I nodded my head and he started growling and it worked the beast turned around and stared at Lucas and I ran towards Adrian and Andrea. When I got there they were fine and they were back on their feet which was surprising because I thought they had been knocked out. Now that we all are on our feet we run over to Lucas and stand by his side because we are stronger in numbers. I didn't care if he got mad at us for not running away, we wanted to help our alpha, I wanted to help Lucas.

 We all went after it at once so we could try and confuse it but that didn't work it knocked us all back at once. No matter how much we tried we couldn't take it down. Everyone was down besides Lucas and me. It keep going after Lucas and it knocked him back to were he could barely get up, so I was the only one left. I charged towards it and instead of it slamming me back it picked me up and looked me and the eyes. Those eyes were so familiar they looked just liked my fathers but I couldn't be and then the monster slammed me back. I could barely see all I could see was everyone standing over me. I still couldn't get over the monsters eyes that looked like my dads. It couldn't be possible could it.

 The more I focused on the eyes of the monster my vision started to fade away and my body felt limb right after I felt someone pick me up. After that I passed out.
