birds

I was standing in the middle of the sea-green
ocean, under the clear blue
sky. I was staring up at that sky
when I spotted them.
two birds
one pure white, one midnight black
flying from opposite ends.
their wings commanding
the air to carry them.
they flew right past each other
in the middle of my vision
in such a way that it was almost magical.
something in me
told me it was you
somehow telling me that you got the message
I sent to you through the wind
that I love you
and always will
