Dimitri
Kat wouldn’t stop telling me lines and phrases to say to Ariel. Did she think we were going to dinner?? We were going to a movie…that was it. It’s not like there would be much time to talk, which I was bummed about. How in the hell was I supposed to tell her about Immortals? Or even hint to them?? Chris, of course, came in and told me to discard everything Kat was saying. He wanted me to be a perverted douchebag like him, and that definitely wasn’t happening. But I wasn’t going to act like some knight in shining armor, like Kat wanted, either. Scarlet didn’t even give her opinion, but I knew she would’ve wanted me to be myself, which is what I planned, only a little sweeter. I had to get Ariel’s attention somehow… Kat tried fixing my hair, but I effortlessly dodged out of her line of hairspray. “What the hell are you doing?!” I snarled, covering my hair.
“Fixing what you call a hair style.” “It’s fine the way it is!!” I protested, running a hand through it. Satisfied, I left the cluttered bathroom, taking a deep breath. My fitted dark denim jeans and tight, dark gray t-shirt made me look completely normal, and not like someone who was going to live forever, or could hear, see, smell and react better than any human. I shook the thought and slipped on my favorite black fleece jacket, fitted to perfection. It was great to wear on and off of missions, and was one of the only jackets I actually had. It didn’t have a hood, which was good and bad. I slid into my sneakers, watching as Phelan and Tasha chased each other around the house. Well, technically, it was a mansion with an extensive underground layout, which was where our “base” was. Our bedrooms, main hall, kitchen, bathrooms, storage room, weaponry, training room, computer room and audio/video studio were all on the same underground floor. We had a kennel too, where we kept the wolves sometimes. But they were usually good, so there was no need to put them away when we were gone.
We had doggie doors for them and everything, so they could come and go as they pleased. I tucked my amulet into my shirt and sighed again, grabbing my cell phone and walking back out to the others. Scarlet handed me my earpiece, wishing me good luck with a dip of her head. Kat gave me a quick, tight hug before dousing me with cologne that smelled like musk, oak and cedar wood. I coughed, unable to escape her quick hands. Chris gave me a slap on the back and a wink, handing me my stun gun, a small wooden stake, and a miniature pistol with silver bullets just in case. “She said she almost was eaten the other night, which explains why the wolves went crazy…and those hisses. It was probably a vampire, but could’ve been a werewolf. Just…don’t lose anything, and keep your eyes open,” he muttered, throwing me the keys to one of the cars. Emrick gave me a handshake before wishing me luck, and I was on my way shortly afterward. I typed in the address to the movie theater in my GPS, sighing as I started the engine and pulled out of the driveway. I was so not looking forward to tonight, and prayed things wouldn’t go horribly, horribly wrong. Chris and Kat’s mic checks in my ear didn’t ease my worry, and I turned up the radio to tune them out…
