Her phone vibrated against the wooden table, making the goosebumps appear all over her body. All this time, she had been ignoring him, but it was becoming difficult. Even putting her phone in silence mode, didn't shut him up. She crawled herself up into a little ball and produced muffled cries.

On the unanswered side of the line stood Jimin, who almost threw his device to the ground out of frustration. He hated worrying so much about her. Where was she? Why was she ignoring his calls the past few weeks? But the most important question was: Who am I to not be there when she's not feeling well?

He searched through his other contacts and decided to call up his friend Taehyung. He didn't expect him to know, but he just wanted to ask him to be sure.

"Taehyung?" he asked, this time finally connected to someone.

"Jimin? Why are you calling?" Taehyung returned another question. Jimin heard mumbles in the background and little giggles. It made it difficult to understand Taehyung properly.

"It's about _______. Have you h—"

"Hey! Stop that!" Taehyung broke him off abruptly and laughed to someone with him. "I'm sorry. What did you say?"

Jimin felt his insides boil. He almost crunched his phone in his hands, but he quickly controlled his breathing to forget about the fact that Taehyung didn't seem to worry about the girl he once loved.

"With who are you now?" Jimin asked, though he already knew the answer

"With who are you now?" Jimin asked, though he already knew the answer. Taehyung was suddenly quiet on the other side. "Are you with Gaeul?"

Silence. The only sound Jimin could hear was the girl's voice asking what was wrong.

Jimin sighed. "Have fun with your girlfriend." Then he hung up the call, confirming his decision he took at that moment.

From that point on, there would be nothing stopping him to love his best friend. This time it was his turn to be selfish. He had given Taehyung a chance, but he missed it. That was his own huge mistake.

"She's in the hospital", Jimin's dad answered. The son immediately jumped up in surprise, not liking the idea he didn't know a thing and his friend had been spending the last weeks all alone. He wondered what was up to her, if it was bad news.

"Why do I only know about this now?" he asked and raised his voice. He hated it that he didn't realise a thing.

"We also just recently heard about it from her parents. We were just as surprised as you are now", his mother answered calmly while she did the dishes.

"I need to visit her", he groaned and ran away from the table to go to the hospital in the neighbourhood.

"I don't think that's a good idea", his dad stopped him. "It's probably nothing very serious anyway."

"Dad, she's been absent for almost a month now. Please don't stop me from going to her", Jimin answered begging him. He needed to get the worrying over with.

"But her parents told us that she's not ready yet for visito—"

"Dear, Jimin's not a visitor, he's her best friend. Surely he's allowed to see if she's alright. Besides, I too want to know what is happening, since her parents are so mysterious about it all", his mother dominated her husband. Jimin's heart lived up and thanked his mother inwardly, feeling grateful she was so understanding.

He wanted to leave out of the room to go for his best friend, but his mother stopped him.

"That doesn't mean you can go now. It's already too late now. Isn't it better to wait until tomorrow morning? Then you can stay with her for a whole day too", his mother reasoned with him. Jimin wanted to go against her and say he needed to see her immediately, but he gave in to his mother's intimidating eyes.

He bid her a thank you and then returned to his room where he could lie inside his bed and worry himself death.

He stared at the number on the door, matching the combination of numbers the receptionist had told him where his patient lied.

Just before he decided to burst into her room with a great smiling face, he changed his mind and called her first. He didn't expect her to pick up, just like the previous times he tried. He just wanted to know if there was a specific reason she didn't receive the calls. Perhaps she lost her phone, her battery was empty, or mobiles were simply not allowed in the hospital.

When he heard her usual ringtone ringing through her room, he noticed the presumptions were all wrong. She was definitely ignoring him.

Just as he was wondering why he was avoiding him, he heard her silently sniffing inside. His heart shivered at her cries, just like always. He hated seeing her sad. Though there was a side of him that was extremely happy now he finally found her, so he could wipe those tears away into forgetting; he always did that when they were younger. That was the only special thing he meant for her, and knowing that, made him boost inside the room, wanting to use that little thing to his advantage.

"I came as fast as I could!"
