Chapter 18: friends

I woke up the next day. Gosh I slept for a long time! I looked at the clock in my night stand next to my bed. Wow! It's only 8:30! That's way earlier than when I usually wake up. I wonder if mom is up yet? I tiptoed to her room and looked in. She's not there. She must be downstairs. I went downstairs and got greeted by dibbles and merebear.

"Hey girls. Where's mom at?" I asked.
Why am I even asking them? They are cats! It's not like they're going to respond. Oh well. I'm just weird.

"I'm on the porch!" Mom screamed 
I walked out to the porch.

"Adam!!!" I screamed.

"Britt!!" Adam said.
Adam got up from his chair and hugged me.

"Hey? I guess I'll go home since you don't want to see me." Selena said.

"I do want to see you!" I said happily.
I ran over and hugged Selena.

"Britt, you'd better get ready, today you're going to meet another one of my friends. " mom told me.

"Who?"

"It's a surprise. Now go get ready!"
Ugh! I hate surprises! I wonder which if her friends it's going to be. Karlie? Cara? Abi? Huh.
I went back upstairs to my room and got into the shower. Who could it be?! Once I got out of the shower, I went to my closet to find something to wear. I decided in my black crop top and high waisted short shorts. I went back to the bathroom and did a French braid on my hair and did my normal make up routine. I put in my ankle sandals and went back downstairs. Now it's 10:00.

"I'm ready" I told mom, Adam, and Selena.

"Alrighty then. " mom replied.
We went outside and got into Adams car and drove to the mysterious persons house.

"Is it karlie?" I asked.

" not telling. " mom said.
I looked at Selena.

"I'm not telling either. "

"Selena! Please!"
She ignored me.
Ugh!! We eventually pulled up to a house and the security guards let the car in. A lady stepped outside the house.

"Abigail!" I said.

Mom laughed. "Yup! She's your new Godmother!"
I got out of the car.

"Hello! You must be Britt! " Abi said.

"Yup!" I replied.

"Well come on in! We can do whatever you would like!"

"Awesome!"
Mom, Adam, and Selena are going back to the car. But why?

"Are you guys not staying?" I asked.

"No, we are going to uh, uh, see Selena's mom in the hospital. " Adam said.
Something tells me he's lying. I walked into abis house. It's so pretty!

"So. What do you want to do?" She asked.

"Ummmmm..." I looked around and saw a pool. "I wanna swim! But I don't have a swimsuit"
Dang it! I wish I would have brought my swimsuit! I haven't been swimming in a long time!

"I might have a swimsuit that will fit you! Let me check. " Abi told me.
I sat down in the couch as Abi walked to her room to try to find a swimsuit for me. A few minutes later she came back out with a swimsuit in hand.

"Try this. The bathroom is the first room in the right. " Abi said.
I walked to the bathroom and looked at the swimsuit. It's all black with a little star on the side of the bottoms. And it's a bikini. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. Yay! I looked in the mirror. I still have some of the bruises on my back from the few times dad hit me. I hope abi doesn't notice. I went out to the living room and saw abi on the couch.

"Thanks. It fits. " I said 

"No problem!"
We walked outside to the pool and abi did a cannonball. I did the same thing.

"What happened?" Abi asked.
I'm guessing she means to my back.

"My dad hit me a few times and the bruises just haven't gone away yet. "
Abi gave me a look that says I'm sorry. And then she splashed me.

"Hey!" I screamed.
I splashed her back. This is so much fun!
I wonder what Adam, mom, and Selena are really doing. I doubt there at the hospital with Selena's mom. And if they are, why couldn't I come?
Abi's phone rang and she got out of the pool.

"Hey! Taylor! Yup. Ok. Be there soon"
Abi said.
So she's talking to mom.

"Ok Britt, Taylor wants you home now." Abi told me.

"But I don't want to go!" I replied whining.

"Too bad. Now go get dressed!"
I went to the bathroom where I left my clothes and put them back on. I came out and handed the swimsuit back to Abi 

"Alright, let's go" Abi said.
We went outside and got into her car. Abi's driving and I'm riding shotgun.
Why does mom already want me back? I've only been with abi for about an hour. Huh. This whole day seems off.
