Seth’s POV

The cold didn’t bother me but I was getting jittery, waiting for Marisol outside my apartment complex. Another car passes me and I anxiously wait for Merris’ rented Malibu. I didn’t have to wait for long as a plain silver car slows down by the pavement to park. Though it was dark, the street lamp illuminated the driver’s face and I could immediately recognize her by her long curtain of hair. She offered me a smile before getting out.

She wrapped her jacket closer to her body as a gush of wind attacked her from the west. Her hair scattered and stuck to her face before she pushed them out of the way.

I pull out my phone and texted Leah.

-She’s here. Thanks for covering for us.-

“Hey Seth,” Merris said, hurrying to my side. I threw an arm over her shoulder and brought her closer into me, to protect her from the window. “Let’s head inside. It’s freaking freezing out here. I can’t you believe you waited out here.”

I laughed. “I can take the cold. I have a hundred and eight degree body temperature, remember, Hon?” She grinned and rolled her eyes. With her still under my arm, I used the other to push the door open and guide her into the warm lobby.

I glanced at the old lobby clerk who eyed Marisol suggestively so I shot him a glare. He winked at me and shut his thumbs up at me. I rolled my eyes at the perverted old man.  I covered her backside so he wouldn’t be looking at her butt. The elevator doors opened and she leaned up comfortable against the metal bars while I punched in the seventh floor.

“So this is a nice place,” Marisol mused.

“Thanks, I’m rarely here though. College has consumed a lot of my time. Any place with a bed will do,” I said, ending in a chuckle. Marisol laughed along.

“I know what you mean. So what are you going to major in?”

“Dental.”

Marisol burst out laughing until she clutched her stomach. I just waited for her to stop. I got that response a lot. Leah’s reaction almost killed her she laughed so hard.

“Ironic, yes I know.” I shook my head as Merris sniffled, recovering from laughing. “But… it’s not as risky as being a doctor. Don’t you think people would be suspicious of me, a doctor with sky-rocketing degree body temperature?”

Merris held her hand up. “No, no, I totally respect it. It’d be more cliché if you decided to be a veterinarian.” She smothered another laugh. “But Dental is pretty cool. You have a perfect smile for a werewolf.” We both laughed at the one.

We arrived at the seventh floor. “Ladies first,” I held out my arm to make way for her. She mocked a bow and strutted passed me and then waited a few feet away for me to show her which door was mine. “Number 103,” I told her. She went to the nearest door and smiled when she hit the right door. I hurried to her side and unlocked the door for her. Again, I held out my arm and let her in first. She turned on the light.

I’ll admit, my apartment sucked, but money was tight, especially with my outrageous tuition. It was small and to make room, I gave up some of my furniture. The living room was plain, made up of a small flat screen, courtesy of Leah, and my Dad’s leather couch with his matching lounge chair. The kitchen was bearable with outdated appliances and a wood island. The walls were freshly painted, though. The original yellow was horrible, so I gave it a guy’s touch with a subtle brown.

Marisol didn’t look disgusted though. From her expression, she looked impressed. I was puzzled.

“Sorry if it’s not really, uh, decked out. Money is-” she cut me off.
