"That will be $13.99." I handed the lady the money for the supplies and bag that I bought and hurried out the store. I drove to the nearest bank and I made sure no one was around before I started doing the same thing I did at the other bank. The machine whirred to life and after I punched in the code, it started spitting out money. When it got full, I grabbed it and put it in the bag and repeated the action until I had all one hundred thousand dollars.

The bag was a bit heavy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. Now that I had the money, I needed a car so that I could blend in. I started the bike and drove around until I found a used car shop. I put the bag on my back and walked in, the bell on the door alerting the people inside of my presence.

"Hi. How may I help you?" The guy at the counter asked. My eyes swung over to him and he started smiling, looking me up and down. "What's a pretty lady like you doing in these parts?" he asked, digging the toothpick he had in his hand between his teeth. I walked up the the counter and leaned against it, maintaining eye contact the entire time.

"I need a car. The best one you have." I said, ignoring his question. I realized I wasn't in the good part of town when I left the salon. He leaned forward and bit his lip.

"I'll give you that and more." he whispered and I rolled my eyes, tapping my hand on the counter.

"There's not much more I want from you other than the car and keys. Now get to it." I snapped and he raised his eyebrows.

"Wow, a feisty little thing. I bet you're like that in bed too-" He barely got those words out because my hand shot forward and I grabbed his throat, squeezing a bit.

"Look, I don't have a lot of time and frankly, you're wasting it. Stop trying to get in my pants and get me the damn car or I'll rip out your jugular, got it?" I threatened and he nodded quickly, his pulse throbbing against my fingers. I let him go and he coughed, running to the back.

"Men." I scoffed, looking around the shop. There wasn't much inside, so I went to the window and looked outside, eyeing which car I would want. I scanned the parking lot and I narrowed my eyes when I saw the guy who was trying to hit on me talking to a cop. "Shit." The cop showed him a picture and the guy shook his head. I held my breath as he pointed over here and the cop nodded, patted the guys shoulder, and walked back into his car.

I breathed a sigh of relief and pinched the bridge of my nose. I really needed to hurry and get out of Illinois before I got caught. I was starting to miss Michael and Lincoln a lot, especially since I didn't have anyone to back me up or save me if anything went wrong. The guy came back in with a chart and I walked to him.

"What did the cop want?" I asked and he looked up.

"Oh, you saw that?" I nodded and he pointed over his shoulder in the direction he just came from. "He was just asking if I had seen that lady from the news that escaped Fox River with those other cons. She's pretty hot."

"And the car?" I asked, mentally wanting to punch him. He handed me the papers that were in his hands and I looked over the list of potential cars. A blue one caught my eye and I knew that was the one I wanted. "I want this one." I pointed to it and he nodded.

"Let me get the keys and you can get ready to fill out some stuff for the payment plan."

"I don't need a payment plan. I'm paying it off. Cash." He stopped and turned around slowly, his eyes wide.

"All twenty thousand dollars?" he asked, bewildered.

"Yes, now hurry and get the keys." I rushed him and he went to the back, shaking his head. I was getting anxious because the officer still hadn't left. I took out the cash that was needed and tapped my fingers on the counter, wanting him to hurry up. When he came back. I shoved the cash at him and grabbed the keys from his hand.

"Hey! You need to fill out the paperwork!" he yelled, but I ignored him and sprinted out, pressing the button on the keychain. When I heard a beeping sound, I ran towards it and found the car. I unlocked the door and slid in, throwing the bag in the passenger's seat. The guy ran out, waving his hands in the air. "Hey! Wait!" I started the car and peeled out of the parking lot, in the opposite direction of the officer so he wouldn't spot my new car.

"Finally!" I shouted to the wind as I sped down the highway, GPS set on Tooele, Utah. I was finally going to reconnect with Mike and Linc, if they were thinking the same way I was.

Two days later, I was still on the road. I took multiple breaks for gas, food, and to use the bathroom. I looked at the gas gauge and groaned when I saw that it was close to empty.

"Dammit." I muttered, looking at the signs to see when the next gas station would pop up. After five minutes, I saw a sign with gas stations on it and I celebrated in my head. I really wanted this trip to be over. Normally, it would only take about twenty hours from Chicago to Tooele, but ever since we broke out, the police had been at the state lines like crazy. Luckily, I was never stopped, but that also meant that I couldn't speed the way I wanted to.

I found the gas station that I wanted and I pulled into a section, ran in to pay, and then ran back out to start the pump. While I waited for my car to fill up, a ringing sound came from inside my car. I frowned, brushing my bangs out of my eyes. I left the pump and walked around to the passenger side, where my bag was. The ringing got louder when I opened the door and I saw that it was coming from inside my bag. I slowly opened it and saw that it was the phone that Michael gave me. Looking at the screen, I saw a number, but it wasn't programmed in the phone. I answered anyway.

"Hello?" I said, walking back over to the pump. It was done, so I shook the excess gas in the tank and placed it on the hook. I wanted some snacks, so I got in the car and drove to the market part of the gas station. I heard shuffling in the background of the phone.

"Mel?" Lincoln's voice flowed in my ear and I almost fell out the car as I was getting out of it. My eyes widened.

"Lincoln? Is it really you?" I breathed, not believing I was hearing his voice.

"Michael, I got her on the line!" I heard him shout. "Mel, you there?" he asked, sounding out of breath.

I nodded, but then realized he couldn't see my nod through the phone. "Yes, yes, I can hear you. Where are you guys? What happened after the train incident? Are you guys okay? What-?

"Melanie, calm down. We're fine and we're in Kansas right now, on our way to Tooele. What about you? Are you okay?" I ran my fingers through my hair, wanting to cry tears of joy. Hearing his voice was like drinking a glass of water after being in the desert for hours without it.

"I'm fine. I got some money and a car and I changed the way I look so I don't think the cops will recognize me right away. Tell me everything that has happened to you guys so far." I said and I heard Lincoln chuckle. He started to tell me how they had to hurry to make it to the car after the train took me away and how they decided to go to Utah and hoped that I would do the same. I smiled as I listened, commenting when needed, and I started to look around the area.

Everything was peaceful and calm at first and I was about to get in my car and continue listening to Lincoln, but tires screeched behind me and I turned around to see a black van pull up next to my car and three men with masks ran towards me.

"Lincoln, something's wrong." I interrupted him and before he could answer, I swung my arm and smashed it against the first guys nose, dodged the second one, and kicked the third guys' balls. While they were down, I put the phone back to my ear, breathing hard. "Lincoln, someone sent guys to attack me. I don't know what's going on but-" I grunted and ducked, barely avoiding a fist to my cheek.

"Melanie!" Lincoln shouted through the phone and I glanced down at it, but one of them kicked my hands and I cried out, clutching my now throbbing wrist. My phone slid to the ground and the guys surrounded me. My heart was beating out my chest and I was going to go down fighting. I yelled and ran after the one that was in front of me, but I was yanked back to the ground and I hit my head hard.

My vision swam and I saw four faces lean over me. Wait, four? I didn't get the chance to question it because a cloth was placed over my face and I blacked out.
