My head was throbbing relentlessly and I was moving from side to side, a rumbling sound next to my ear. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. It was dark where I was and it took me a minute to realize that I was in a trunk. Everything that happened earlier rushed back to me and I was alert instantly. I was pretty sure that the Company was behind my kidnapping because no one else knew where I was, not even Michael and Lincoln.

A bit of light shone through the taillights and I remembered  what my dad taught me to do when in these types of situations. I think being able to survive was the only good thing he did for me and Sara. Ignoring the throbbing in my bad ankle, I brought my leg back and started kicking out the light. Since my arms were tied behind my back, it was extremely hard, but I wasn't letting that stop me.

The duct tape around my mouth was getting moist from my saliva and the taste was horrendous. Pain travelled through my leg and my breathing was out of control. I stopped for a second to catch my breath, and that's when I heard talking. I was about to start kicking again, when the car screeched to a halt. I cursed under my breath as footsteps pattered towards the trunk. I was not prepared for the sunlight that hit my face when the trunk was opened and my eyes automatically shut.

"Where the hell am I?!" I yelled, but my words were muffled by the duct tape. My eyes were still closed, so when I heard whispering instead of a response, I opened them slowly until they were adjusted to the light. I saw four men standing in front of the open trunk, talking amongst themselves. They weren't looking at me, so I took this as an opportunity to escape while I still could. Since my legs were free, I slowly threw them out the trunk and forced myself up.

I must have made more noise than I thought because all of the men turned around and as soon as I stood up, my knees buckled and I fell towards the ground. One of the men ran to me an caught me before I busted my head.

"Did you really think you were going to make it?" he asked, gripping my arm tightly. I glared at him and said nothing. I glanced at the others, but I didn't recognize who they were. They must have been new recruits.

"She better be worth it. I don't want this coming down on our heads later," another guy said, worry etched in his voice. He had brown, curly hair and seemed to be the youngest of the crew.

"Shut it." The guy that held me snapped. He reached down and tore the duct tape off my mouth.

"Son of a--" I bit out, the tape taking some hairs and probably skin with it. A throbbing sensation was around my mouth and I made a few weird faces to stretch it out. "I should kill you right now." I threatened as he cut the ropes from my hands. He raised an eyebrow at me while I rubbed my chaffed wrists.

"I think you're smarter than that," he said. I scoffed but I knew that if they were trained by the same people I was trained by, taking them down would be a suicide mission, especially since I didn't have any backup.

"What do you want from me?" I asked. The guy grabbed my arm and started taking me to the building he parked in front of. A forest surrounded the entire area, making it impossible for any normal person to be able to get in. The building was tall and was made mostly of glass, making me want to find a rock to throw at it, just to see it shatter. Familiarity filled my body and I realized this was the place I was taken to when I was first trained. The men led me through the doors and pushed me in.

"Keep walking. We're almost there." The younger guy said. I looked at him and he looked away quickly, as if I were going to do something to him. Glad I still have that affect on people, I thought.

"Almost where?" I wondered, but as usual, no one answered me. I was led down a dark, cold hallway and we kept walking until I saw a door up ahead. My heart started pounding with nervousness as we got closer. A guard was posted outside the door, not moving or looking around. His eyes stayed straight ahead, even when we walked up to him.

"Grayson. At ease." The man holding ordered and Grayson, the guard, relaxed. "This is the woman Amir wanted. Step aside." My eyes widened.

"Amir? Why the hell are you taking me to Amir? He's just a guard." I retorted, confused. The man looked down at me with a smirk on his face.

"Lady, Amir is now the second in command to the general." I couldn't even form words at this information. Amir was one of the lowest of the lowest guards that nobody respected or took seriously and now he's Krantz's right hand man? Grayson opened the door and I was shoved forward into the dimly lit room with a table and one chair. Amir was standing by the window and when he heard the commotion, he turned around and smiled when he saw me.

"Ahh, well if it isn't the infamous Melanie. Strap her to the chair." Amir ordered, walking to the table. I didn't fight as two of the men that kidnapped me forced me down and strapped my arms and legs to the wooden chair. I couldn't take my eyes off of Amir.

First, he was a very attractive middle eastern man with strong facial features. His pitch black hair was gelled back, exposing his full eyebrows. His facial hair was cleaned up nicely and the dimple on his left cheek made all the girls swoon, even me once upon a time. Second, I still couldn't believe he got promoted to such a high position. When the other men left, Amir turned to me, his arms folded over his chest.

"Where is your sister?" he asked.

"Wow straight to the point. I like it. It's so not like you though." I said, cocking my head. Amir narrowed his eyes at my attempt to annoy him, but he said nothing.

"I don't have time for games. Now, where is Sara?" he asked again and I shrugged.

"How am I supposed to know?" I pursed my lips and stared him straight in the eyes. "You guys tracked me down, so it shouldn't be hard to find a doctor on the run." I said smartly. Amir walked to the table and leaned forward on his hands, his face close to mine.

"Ms. Tancredi, it would be wise to tell me where she is, right now." he whispered firmly.

"Actually, it's Mrs. Burrows." I corrected. I could see that he was losing patience and he pushed back and turned to the window. While he did that, I started to try to find a way to take the straps off of me. They were not going to keep me hostage when I had somewhere to be. He turned back to me and something in his eyes changed.

"You were a Tancredi before you were a Burrows, so I can call you what I want." Amir snapped. I shrugged and leaned back in the chair.

"Then I guess you'll never know where she is."
