"I'm here to see Dolores Jane Umbrdige." I widely smiled at the man running the front desk.
"Um, yes." He pulled out a clip board. "Ms. Sarah Beth Cumberland?"
"That's me!" I flipped a strand of curly, brown hair out of my face.
"Come with me." He came out from behind the desk.
"Oh, I know where it is."
"They moved her into a different room."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes. Now if you'll follow me." He led me through a hallwy to his left. All the way I starred at the St. Mungo's emblem on teh back of his white robes.
"Here it is." He stopped at a door with a shiney, silver 21 on it. He layed a hand on my shoulder. "She really is doing much better. This happened to a lot of people after the war." I nodded my head wearily as he knocked on the door. "Dolores?"
"Yes?" I heard her voice softly reply.
"Someone is here to see you."
"Ohkay." He stepped out of the way and gestured for me to open the door.
"Thank you." I said. He nodded and headed off back towards the front desk.
"Auntie?" I lightly cracked open the door.
"Hm?" I completely opened the door. Her new room was homeier than the other one had been. assummed she could decorate this one how she wanted, because all four walls were pink. The bed was covered with pink sheets and fluffy pink pillows. Her cat plates hung over her bed, meowing away happily.
Auntie herself was sitting in one of the two chairs that were infront of a fireplace.
"Auntie?" I said again. She looked at me blankly, until, ever so slowly, the cornors of her mouth lightly turned up.
"Sweetheart." She pointed to the other chair. "Sit down, Darling."
"How are you?" I asked cheerfully.
"Same as always." She leaned back, making her iron grey hair press against her head. "Stuck here, trying to prove to them I'm not crazy." I swollowed ang tugged on the pink bow I had put in my ahir for this occations. We both knew she wasn't insane, but in my opinion she was still a lttle carzy, escecially when it came to Muggles. "But you don't want to hear about my boring days. I would much rather hear about yours." She used her wand to pour herself a cup of tea with the teaset on the other side of the room. "Want some?" I nodded adn she poured me a cup also. With another flick of her wand, the cups gracefully sailed towards us and landed on teh coffee table.
"Well, the Ministry is finally lettign me live among the Muggles."
"Oh. When are you moving?" She put her cup to her lips to take a sip.
"I already have." She almost choked.
"What!?" she coughed.
"I moved in Thursday. I started work Friday."
"...Really?" She looked down into her tea cup.
"Yes." I took a small sip.
"Does anyone else know?" I eyed the framed pictures sitting on her mantle. More than half of them were of me and Rufus. Half of those were from when we were still going to Hogwarts. I knew by 'anyone' else' she meant Rufus. She still had the delusion that him and I were someday going to be married.
"Yes. Rufus and his parents know. Mr. Cornelius and Ms. Shea. Luna. Anyone in the Ministry would know."
"Oh."
"And I went on a date yesterday."
"Oh. Where did you and Rufus go?" I sighed.
"No, Auntie. Not Rufus. We broke up ages ago. I've told you this, we aren't together anymore."
"Oh."
"His name is Ashley. He's really nice."
"Oh?"
"Yeah," I smiled.
"How was your, er, date?" She had difficulty saying the word. My smile dropped a bit.
"Great...at first."
"Waht do you mean, Dear?"
"Well, we went to see a show and afterwrd, on the way home, I got sick."
"Oh, well, you shouldn't let that ruin your date."
"And I puked."
"Oh..." she put her empty cup of tea on teh coffee table. "Wht did you say his name was again?"
"Ashley. Ashley Carter."
"What's his status?"
"About middle-class I guess."
"No, his blood status."
"Um..." This wasn't going to go well. Auntie didn't like muggles. As far back as I could rememver, she discouraged me study of them. But what she did encourage was my hooking up with a pureblood, even if it wasn't Rufus.
"Yes?" She got up and stood across from me.
"He's a Muggle."
Her eyes widened as she started to stumble backwards.
"A M-M-M-" she murmmered, "A Mu-ohh...." She suddenly fell backwards, passing out. I quickly took out my wand adn levitated her above the floor before she could hit it. Lifting my wand up, I made her float a little hight and finally across the room. I layed her onto the bed.
"Help!" I ran into the hallway, looking for any St. Mungo's employee. "Help!"
"Can I help you, Miss?" A young man in white St. Mungo's robes asked.
"Yes! It's my Auntie! She's fainted!" I grabbed his hand and dragged him into Auntie's room.
"Oh, Umbridge." He said flatly. "this happens all the time. What did you say before this happened?"
"I told her I went on a date with a Muggle."
"That will do it." He walked to her bedside. I followed. "Well, that and the mention of horses and centaurs. But it's normal. Never the less, I'm affraid I must ask you to leave. You can come back another day."
