Sarah Beth~
That Sunday morning I went back to St. Mungo's, determined to make up with Auntie. There was no way I could do what she wanted and break up with Ashley, especially after what happened Halloween night, but maybe I could convenes her that Ashley wasn't that bad.
I Apparated to the front desk, ready to check in. My sudden appearance startled a woman who was already there, sighing out. She turned around, and to my shock, I knew who it was.
"Ellie!?" I exclaimed in disbelief.
Eleanor Snape was one of my childhood friends. She had been a Slytherin at Hogwarts, so we had had our ups and downs in the past, but we still talked to each other now and again. I hadn’t seen her since she had her first child, which was about four years ago. Clearly she was having another. She looked about five or six months pregnant.
"Sarah Beth," She warmly smiled. I grabbed her and hugged her tightly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked as we broke away.
"Narcissa is afraid that I'm going crazy or something."
"So she's sending you here! You're not crazy!" I gasped.
"No, she's knows that. But she thinks I need therapy. I come here once a week." Eleanor said in a mocking tone. It was obvious that she completely disagreed with the idea. I, on the other hand, agreed with Narcissa. I knew Ellie pretty well, so I knew that she had been through a lot, and she had a tendency to unhealthily hold her emotions inside until she couldn't any longer. That would result in fits of uncontrollable rage. She also had a tendency to be easily offended. Therefore, I didn't tell her what I thought be pretended to agree with her.
"You don’t' need therapy." I lied. Maybe it would be a good idea to change the subject. "So, you're having another one?" I gestured to her baby bump.
"Oh, yeah..." She self consciously pulled the jacket she was wearing around her.
"What made you and Draco decide to have another one?"
"Um...we didn't." She blushed. It took me a couple moments to get what she meant.
"Oh!" I laughed. "Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?"
"I want another boy. Draco wants a girl. I guess we'll see in a few months."
"So, how is Scorpius?"
"Well, he just turned four. He's pretty cute; and funny. He asked Lucius and Draco yesterday why they had girl hair." We both laughed.
"Can I help you?" asked the man at the counter. I had completely forgotten about why I was there.
"Yes!" I brightly said. "I'm here to see Dolores Jane Umbridge."
"Name, please?"
"Sarah Beth Cumberland." I widely smiled. He picked up a clipboard that was sitting behind the counter.
"I'm sorry. You're not on the list."
"What! I was! I'm her niece!"
"I'm sorry, Miss, but you're not on the list. I can't let you see her."
"What! That's insane!" I exclaimed, filling the empty hallways with my voice.
"Miss-"
"Excuse me," Eleanor stepped in, "Sarah Beth is my friend. Her dear, poor Aunt is the only family either of them has left. Do you really want to keep them from seeing each other?" The man shook his head.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let her. It's against the rules."
"Do you know who I am?" Eleanor demanded. The man shook his head no. He must not have been there when she signed in, so he must have just started his shift. "I am Eleanor Malfoy." His eyes widened.
