Fantastic Relationships and Where to Find Them

The Golden Snitch was very nice. It was in this small town called Hogsmeade. Sarah Beth told me that Hogsmeade was the only fully-wizarding town in England. There were rows of old houses with a lot of shops and vendors, and people were walking around with all sorts of items. It was more amazing than Diagon Alley.

The town also had what resembled historic sections as well. There were signs for things such as "The Shriekeng Shack Museum," "The Aberforth House," and "The Old Death Eater Outpost." I was not sure what they were, but I was not deeply concerned about them. I was preoccupied with our dinner with the peculiar Scamander couple.

As I was saying, I was impressed with the restaurant. There were many portraits of people dotting the walls. The subjects of the portraits looked very high-status. They acted that way as well via the magic that causes the pictures to move. One was of a woman with an extravagant dress and vials of strange liquids. Another was of a group of men and a woman in three-piece suits holding musical instruments that had pictures of dragons on them. The only one I recognized was one of the Malfoy family. That is, a portrait of Draco Malfoy standing with a small group of people that could have been his family by the way they looked like each other. The wall was titled "Our Contributors" in gold lettering.

The other walls had candles and cases with small spheres made of gold in them. The waitresses all wore black, pointed hats with gold lining and matching gowns. They were levitating trays with fine food on them, much like the way Sarah Beth did to the chair on New Year's Day. Our seats were near the back, where the Scamanders were waiting for us.

"Hello, Sarah Beth. Hello, Ashley." Luna Scamander greeted us in her content way. Her face wore a lovely smile and wide, dreamy eyes. She had a red dress with faded yellow stars on puffy sleeves. She had starry earrings as well as ruby jewelry. Honestly, she looked nice. She had the same strange air that she had before, but it was sort of a welcome strangeness.

We greeted Luna and sat at the table. Rolf also said hello. He wore a simple black suit with a yellow tie. It was much less remarkable than Luna's dress, much like my suit compared to Sarah Beth's gown. It was pink and violet, with an ornate flower on her left shoulder. I just wore a white dress shirt with a black coat and pants.

We ordered our drinks after sitting down. Sarah Beth ordered pumpkin juice for me, and the Scamanders both ordered water.

"It's rather nice, this place." Luna said after taking a sip of her water. "Dad has a picture somewhere in here."

"Oh yeah." I remembered. "The guy that writes that Quibble thing."

"Quibbler. He doesn't write it; he edits it." She placed her glass back on the table. "It's sort of ridiculous."

I smiled. "Eh. I like it. It's pretty funny."

"The thing is, it's not supposed to be funny. Some people actually believe it."

"Oh." I looked nervously, because my mind raced back to when I was reading it with Rufus Fudge and started to believe it. "Hehe. I guess some people just don't use their brains."

Luna sat back in her seat with a strange look on her face. Sarah Beth gave me a look of her own, and it made me feel uncomfortable.

"What did I say?" I whispered when the Scamanders began talking to each other.

"Luna used to... I'll tell you later."

The dinner went pretty well after I said whatever it was that I said. We had eaten some pretty great food throughout the evening. I had a roast beef platter. Sarah Beth had some strange fish that I did not recognize. Rolf Scamander had a steak, medium-rare with a salad. Luna had a roast beef platter, the same strange fish, and a medium-rare steak. She also had a bowl of pudding. She ate the entire meal in the time it took the rest of us to finish ours.
