When I arrived at my old house, it wasn't like I had anticipated. I was atleast three feet off the ground, not to mention Ashley was hanging on to me as if for his life. A second later we fell to the ground. He let out a yelp of fright.

"Sarah Beth, you're bleeding!" He pointed to my forhead. I lifted my hand and felt warm liquid fall onto it; I must have splinched myself by accident. After all, I wasn't really focused on anything.

"Yeah, it's just a scratch!" I didn't mean to yell at him, but anger and hurt was shadowing everything in my life except hurting Rufus. "You probably are somewhere, too! I didn't mean for you to come with me!" I started to make my way to the door of the nice, cosy home that I used to live. Ashley immediatly picked himself up off the ground and ran after me. I pounded on the door.

"RUFUS! I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T LET ME IN, I'LL SMOKE YOU OUT! I'LL BURN IT, YOU KNOW! I DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE! IT DOESN'T EFFECT ME AT ALL!"

"Accually, it does..." Rufus's weak, frightened voice came from behind the door. "Your name is still on the lease..."

"I DON'T CARE WHAT MY NAME IS ON! LET! ME! IN!" I screamed.

"Aren't you being a bit ridiculous?" Ashley asked, trying to make peace. I pushed him away.

"RUFUS, SO HELP ME! IF YOU DON'T LET ME IN, I'LL-" The sound of a lock unlocking made me stop. Rufus stood before me, cowering. He knew what was coming. He lied to me, and now he was going to pay for it.

"Hello...Sarah Beth..." His voice was no more then a shakey wisper.

"YOU!" I went straight for the neck with my fist. He started coughing as he took in labored breaths, almost gagging. "YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST, MOST UNTHOUGHTFUL, DUMB! JUST, AHHH!" I punched him again. He fell to the ground, holding his throat.

"Sarah Beth!" Ashley grabbed me from behind. Just then Mr. Benard came in from the other room.

"Sarah Beth? What are you doing?!"

"WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M DOING! I'M BEATING UP THIS STUPID FACE LIAR!" I pulled against Ashley's grip. Mr. Benard, who was used to my outbursts, sighed.

"Elisa, make some tea. We have..." He stopped to think of the right word, "company. " He looked at my boyfriend. "And you must be Ashley. Hello, I'm Rufus's father." He stuck his hand out to shake Ashley's. Ashley looked at it, since his hands were busy holding me back. Mr. Benard shook his head. "Oh, yeah. Sorry. Come in."

Mr. Benard lead us all inside. Ashley drug me along with him following the recovering, coughing Rufus and his father into the sitting room. To my surprise, Mr. Cornelius and Mrs. Shea were sitting on the sofa. She looked shocked, but Mr. Cornelius looked as relaxed as always. Nothing I did caught him off gaurd anymore.

"What did you do this time, Rufus." Mr. Cornelius asked. He could tell by the way his nephew was holding his neck that I had somehow brought him harm.

"I didn't do anything!" He replied, still trying to catch his breath. Mr. Cornelius looked at me.

"HE LIED TO ME! THEY LOST THE FUDGE SHOP AND I COULD HAVE HELPED!" I pointed to Mr. Benard. "THEY LOST IT AND I COULD HAVE HELPED!" I could feel tears slidding down my cheeks, but I didn't care as much as I usually would have. I coudl have prevented all of this is I'd known. "THEY LOST THE FUDGE SHOP AND I COULD HAVE GIVEN YOU MONEY! I COULD HAVE HELPED! I WOULD HAVE DONATED IT! I COULD HAVE HELPED!" All of a suddenly I stopped yelling. Rufus's guilty face was breaking my heart. As much as I hated to think about it, Rufus was trying to help me. It just hurt that he would lead me on into thinking everything was okay. "I could have helped..." I trailed off, finally going into a steady stream of crying. Not anything extream, but just small, almost silent cries. Ashley let go of me as I wiped my face.
