The Last of the Miras

XII | Jū Ni

Four of the members which composed the Mira family sat around the living room's round wooden table. All of them gathered around to discuss their next step as a family since they were no longer part of the Celestial community since the day they chose to leave the Holy Land at once during the uproar that the eldest Donquixote son had caused.

An adolescent girl leaned her arms on the table and asked her parents. "Tou-san, kaa-san, where are we going next specifically?"

"Helen, we are going back to our ancestor's land. It's an island that they have ruled over a long time ago. A kingdom to be precise." 

The father was the first to reply to his daughter.

Just after the man in his mid thirties answered the girl's question, another boy still in his late teens questioned. "A kingdom?"

"Yes, Axel. A kingdom reigned by a monarchy." 

For the first time, the wife and mother of the two is in a serious mode. The father continues where his wife left, adding another important information about the island.

"That monarchy was ruled by Mira Family," he paused for a second and resumed. "Which is us."

Helen, who still did not get a certain aspect caused the girl to crease her eyebrows and asked anyway. "So, why did we leave that island? Our ancestors I mean."

Hmm. . .good point, Helen-chan. The eldest child thought while he was following the conversation between the three of them.

"Our family was one of the twenty kingdoms who made a pact to defeat the Ancient Kingdom through the Ancient Alliance."

This time, the eldest son nods in recognition. "It happened eight hundred years ago."

"You're right, Axel." 

It was the voice of his mother who came back into the conversation. The youngest of the family followed up another question that came into her mind.

"Kaa-san, I still don't get the exact reason on why they left the kingdom."

Athena's eyes instinctively widens. 

"Sumimasen, I forgot to finish my explanation," she takes a moment of silence to remember the choice of words she would have said before continuing, "The reason why they chose to leave the kingdom is because of the World Government's official formation."

"The event where the World Government was formed for the first time?" Axel voices out as if echoing the fact itself.

The mother of the family nods as a response. "Hai, after the event where the World Government was formed, all—well—almost all of the twenty kingdoms had planned that they would leave their old lives and become part of the present group as we all know as 'tenryuubitos'."

So they left their own respective subjects just to live a life of luxury? Helen forms her own deduction.

"Helen, originally the ruler at that time made their choice it's because they want to." 

The father spoke on the subject and matter at hand.

Though I had a feeling that they were only being pressured that they must go along with the others. Even so, the Nefertari Family of Alabasta were granted an excuse to never leave their island. Alexander added the rest of the contents that came into his mind.

Finally, a voice joins back in the conversation. "Kaa-san, would you care to tell us the name of our ancestors' land?"

"The Forest Country of Altaria."
