Chapter 6: Toshitsugu vs Evelyn

It wasn't too long ago when we first met Evelyn. And already she's managed to become leader of a team formed from Ethereon's organization of defense. Our tale continues to unfold!

Chapter 6:

Toshitsugu vs Evelyn

          Dawn had finally approached our team, in which they were already heading out of the building towards the town. Evelyn and Ren took a look at the case report, discussing it amongst each other. Meanwhile, Hinoko walked in the back of the group, keeping eye on the four while Mira walked with her arms folded. She was trying to speak to Toshitsugu, but the male wouldn't reply to her. Seeing this, a serious look grew on Hinoko's face, causing him to stop walking.

          Evelyn and Ren looked back at the male, as well as Toshitsugu and Mira. "Something wrong big brother?" Ren asked, trying not to drop the papers in his hands. "Yeah, you seem a bit upset. What's up dude?" Mira added on. Hinoko then looked over at Toshitsugu, who had his head turned to the right, avoiding eye contact with either of the other team members. "Does it have something to do with Toshitsugu?" Evelyn asked, walking towards Hinoko.

          Then, before any of the members could make a move, Toshitsugu struck Evelyn in her left rib, his right fist cracking with electricity. Evelyn, who was gasping for breath, fell to her knees, hugging herself. The other three members stared at the male in disbelief. Hinoko then tackled Toshitsugu to the ground and grabbed the male by his throat with his left hand. He stared at Toshitsugu with a cold and sinister look in his eyes, Toshitsugu wrapping his hands around Hinoko's wrist trying to pull free from his grip.

          "The hell is your problem Bolt? What did Evelyn do to you?" Hinoko asked with a violent tone in his voice. Toshitsugu then looked up at the male, beginning to glare as he released Hinoko's grip from his throat and panted. "That should be obvious. I'm pissed that this new member of ours was placed leader of our team! Think about it Hinoko! We don't know shit about the girl!! Yet Ona'Runama puts her on a pedestal like this? I'm sorry, but I can't comply." Evelyn looked back at Toshitsugu shakily, trying to catch her breath. Mira aided her as she stared at Toshitsugu as well.

          Ren then walked over to Toshitsugu and crossed his arms in disappointment. "Even if that's true, maybe Ona'Runama wants to see what Evelyn can accomplish by being placed as leader. This could be a test for her to see if she's really ready to be apart of Rushara."

          "Ren is right. And you assaulting her like this most likely just jeopardized her chances of proving herself." Mira added, helping Evelyn stand to her feet. Evelyn, who had finally caught her breath, stared at Toshitsugu with a frown. She then sighed and walked over towards the male slowly. Seeing this, Hinoko clenched his fist, ready to pounce on Toshitsugu in case he tried to hit the young woman again. Evelyn stopped 5ft in front of Toshitsugu, who was looking up at her with his teeth gritted. She then slowly sat down on her knees in front of the male and took a deep breath.

          "If you don't like me, then I'll leave the clan if it'll make you happy." The male's eyes widened briefly before he began to laugh at her. Hinoko watched silently, along with Mira and Ren. "I knew you'd be the one to take the easy way out! No way...That's not how we do things in the clan. I want you to fight me. Prove to ME you're worthy of leading me."

          It then grew silent in the woods they were in. Everyone staring at Toshitsugu in awe. Evelyn lowered her head for a moment before standing to her feet and placing her arms down to her side. Her heart began to pound as she began to clench her fists. Seeing this, Toshitsugu jumped to his feet with excitement and got into a fighting stance, staring at Evelyn. He awaited her move while the other three continued to watch silently.

          Evelyn kept her head down and began to tremble slightly. Growing impatient, awaiting the girl to make her move, Toshitsugu would swing his right fist at her. Seeing this, Evelyn suddenly swiped the male's fist away and drove her elbow into the middle of the male's chest. Feeling the impact, the male gasped for air, quickly gripping his chest with his left hand. Evelyn then dropped to the ground, sweeping the male off of his feet with her right leg. He then landed on his back and looked up at Evelyn, pure shock in his eyes as she stood to her feet.

          Hinoko smirked and folded his arms. Mira began to clap while Ren pumped his right fist into the air and chuckled with pride. Toshitsugu lied there, closing his eyes to think. He then re-opened his eyes and sat up, placing his hands on the ground. He looked up at Evelyn, a glare in his eyes. He would then finally let out a sigh and nodded. "I...accept you as the current leader of Team Lotus..."

          Hearing his words, Evelyn smiled and jumped for joy. Hinoko, Mira, and Ren smiling proudly as they watched the scene come to an end. Evelyn then held her right hand out to Toshitsugu, as an offer to help him up. He glared at the young woman's hand, then at her before finally taking it. She pulled him up to his feet and smiled warmly. The male simply turned his head and crossed his arms, letting out a huff.

          Hinoko and the others then approached the two. Hinoko placed his hands on Evelyn's shoulders and smiled happily, tilting his head slightly to the right. "So? What do ya' say we get back to the task at hand leader?" Evelyn looked back at him, smiling softly then nodding. "Okay, lets get to work guys!"

With an unexpected turn of events, Evelyn has proved herself to the stubborn male known as Toshitsugu. Now, with everyone finally behind her, Evelyn will begin to lead Team Lotus to a bright future. But how bright will this future be with an enemy up ahead?
