Messing Around

Since our homes were destroyed, we now lived in the base of H.Q. I gave back what money I had left which was just over one thousand two hundred euro.

Myself and Max shared a room as each room had two beds. I wasn't so sure about this. Not because I felt uncomfortable sharing a room with Max, it's just that, Kyra and I usually are in the same room.

This time though, James told me that he would take care of her.

"This is annoying." Max complained for the fifth time.

"I know. Now stop whinging. I'm trying to get some sleep." I told him.

"Really?" I heard Max get up. I ignored him. Then he sat on my bed, nearly sitting on my legs. "It's only eleven. Why don't we have a look around H.Q.? You could show me areas. I don't know this place as well as you."

I used my legs to gently push him off.

"Not on your life. But if you insist on annoying me, we might as well do some hand to hand combat." I said, getting up.

"Yes!" Max exclaimed excitedly.

"But first, turn around and face the wall." I told him sternly.

"Why?"

"Because, idiot, I need to get dressed. I'm not going out in my pajamas." I told him.

"Oh. I'll change too." Max took his top off.

I turned away and sighed.

When I said get changed, I didn't mean right in front of me. I thought angrily.

Two minutes later, Max told me that he was dressed.

"Ok. Now turn around." I didn't want him to look at me. I changed every so quickly. I had considered using a quick  change spell or Requip Magic but I decided no.

"You ready?"

"Yeah. Let's go." I pulled Max's arm and led him to an open area. "This is one of the many training grounds here in H.Q."

With that, we began our hand to hand combat training.

I dodged a punch from Max and managed to kick him.

He did a low sweeping kick and I didn't dodge in time so I fell to the ground.

"Dammit." I muttered under my breath.

"What's that?" Max teased.

While his guard was down, I jumped up and tackled him to the ground.

"Hey! No fair!" he whined as I claimed victory. I was on top of him.

"Is too." I said.

Without warning, Max flipped over and pinned me under him. I struggled but I was still tired from before. I lay still, gazing into Max's red eyes.

"You win." I told him. "Now, do you mind getting off of me?" I asked, still stuck under Max. "I can't breathe."

Max shifted a bit.

"Oh c'mon!" I cried out angrily. Since Max wouldn't voluntarily get off me, I used my knee to hit him where no boy likes to be hit.

"Ow!" Max yelped out in pain. He hadn't expected me to do that.

I pushed him off easy enough. I stood up and smirked.

"Don't be such a baby. You wouldn't get off of me when I asked politely, so I got you off the hard way." I told him, holding out a hand to help him up.
