Derrick's warm breath crawled down Maia's neck. His eyes locked on hers. Finally, he spoke,"Welcome back Maia" "welcome back?" she questioned.
He started circling around her. His rough, dry hands slid along Maia's skin. "Yes Maia" he said "welcome back...to me"
He forced her close to him. His salmon breath twirled around her. He pushed Maia's hair back behind her ear and held her face. "It's me...Derrick"
At that moment EVERYTHING came back to her. All the memories were swirling back into her head. Every vivid detail was stuck in her now. From the exact dark beige color of Derrick's shoe lace to the soft touch of Vincent's fingers leaving Maia's before they departed.

The night was cold. Almost freezing. Maia was staring at her perfect purple walls. She was wrapped in her sheets to prevent her from turning into an ice cube. She kept staring at the clock, wondering when it was the right moment. Every time she thought she could escape, the smallest noise or interruption would send her back to her bed. When she thought the moment was right, she slipped out of her room and skipped to the kitchen. Her parents had taken away her phone so she had to use the home phone. She picked it up and carefully dialed a number. She covered the speaker hole before any sound could escape. She was afraid that even the smallest noise would wake up the entire house.
"You ready?" She heard. Carefully, she lifted her palm off of the speaker and held the phone close to her ear. "Yes" she responded.
She returned to her room without making the slightest sound. In her closet there were two bags. One with BMT and one with MDT stitched on it. She grabbed the MDT bag full of clothes and continued walking. Midway she paused and realized on the other side, it read Maia Dior Tasmin. Quickly, she removed all the clothes from the bag and transferred it to the BMT bag.
A bright, beaming light came through the window and flashed twice. She looked out the window and immediately recognized the coal black BMW. Tip-toeing down the stairs, she secretly said her goodbyes to her room, her mother, her father, her sister, the elephant on the table her uncle gave them. She finally got out of the house, she turned around and said goodbye to her house. She didn't bother locking the door because it made quite a loud noise and in 4 hours her family would wake up anyways and no one would come and rob them or kidnap them in 4 hours.
Outside it was so cold, Maia was wearing two long sleeves, a back adidas jacket, a purple fuzzy winter coat, tights with pale white ripped jeans, and an old pair of matching gloves and hat that had an owl on them from when she was like 12, which wasn't even that long ago.
She sighed and watched the frosty air leave her mouth. This was the very last time she would ever see her family. She touched the frigid car handle and opened it. Entering the car with a gust of warm air hitting her face, then her body.
The two familiar faces greeted her and she kissed the driver. "Thanks Vince" she said. "No problem babe" he responded "listen, this is what is going to happen: your going to go to New York, you will go alone, later Derrick will also meet up with you in New York, he knows someone there." He handed her an airplane ticket to New York, a water bottle, and a passport. She drank from the water bottle and opened the passport and looked at the information. Name: Beatris Zanova. Age:17. Birthday:January 4, 1999. She pulled out her old passport and looked at the information. Name:Maia Dior Tasmin. Age:15. Birthday:January 26,2001.
They finally arrived at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Maia grabbed her bag and then paused,"oh shit!". Vincent circled around the car and asked "what is it?". She stared at the bag and couldn't believe what she had done. "The bag says Tasmin" she banged her head on the car and started panicking. "Yeah but you're not Blair" "I know" Maia said, "but once they find out I'm related to 'Maia Tasmin' they'll look at me and realize it's me, they're not stupid." "Wait, I know" Derrick suddenly popped out.
He took all the contents out and set them on the seat. He grabbed the inside bottom of the bag and pulled it out. Now the bag was inside out. He shoved all the items back in and handed it to her.
They continued walking to the airport. She started feeling a little dizzy, but she figured she's only tired and she can sleep on the plane. But would it be too risky to go to sleep? She didn't know and it was bad to worry because THEN they would be more suspicious of her.
They approached the the door that guided them to gate B. After all the luggage checking and waiting, they arrived at the part where they would have to separate.
She looked around and saw tons of couples hugging, getting on their tippy toes and reaching each other's lips to kiss, and waving for that last goodbye. Maia wished she could do that...come back. She could kiss, and hug, and wave goodbye to Vincent all she wanted, but she wasn't coming back. Those couples would see each other again.
Maia turned to get another look at Vincent's face. Those glowing, sky blue eyes seemed like an endless ocean. His perfect, pink lips were headed to her. The passionate kiss left her heart broken. "Goodbye Vince" she whispered. "I love you". Then, she felt the soft touch of Vincent's fingers leaving Maia's before they departed.
She left for the doors until they yelled for her to go to the metal detectors, so she turned around and went.
Maia was in line to check the passports. Every step she took was even scarier than the last. Her heart was pounding and getting louder by the second. Finally she was next and then in a split second, it was her.
"Passport ma'am" the man said. Maia handed him the passport and crossed her fingers. "Beatris?"he asked. She gulped and wiped the sweat off her face,"um..yes" she replied. "That's my daughter's name." With relief, she laughed and headed to the plane.
Maia got on the plane and found her seat. Not long after the plane started to take off. Maia was getting dizzy and this time she didn't think she was tired. Suddenly, her eyes started rolling back. She was headed for the floor. She saw the the dark beige shoelace of a familiar shoe. Then...she was out.
