"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect. - J.K. Rowling
8 Months Later . . .
Chyna
I tiptoed in our bedroom, grabbed my phone off the night stand and opened my camera and started taking pictures of Tahj. He had his shirt off, with Riley balled up on the center of his chest. One arm was folded under his head while the other was tucked safely around Riley so that she was secured. I swear this was the most adorable thing in the world to me.
After I was satisfied with the pictures that I wanted, I left the room and and decided to use this time to get some school work done. Since I had Riley four months ago it was rare that our home was quiet. We always had a continuous flow of people coming by to see her and at this very moment, I decided to take advantage of it.
Once I made it to the living room, I sat down on our sectional couch and grabbed my computer, but of course my solitude only lasted for a brief second because immediately after I had my computer up and going, my phone started ringing. I almost ignored it, but I knew it was Ryelle and she would have just kept calling until I eventually answered.
"I'm working Ryelle." I held my phone with my shoulder to free up my hands so that I could sign into my student portal.
"You're always working and I really don't care. I want to see my niece so I'm coming over."
"Ry no, not right now. And besides, she's in there sleep with Tahj."
"Oh my God, you cannot keep that baby from me," She whined. I swear Ryelle was so damn dramatic it wasn't even funny. She had convinced Mama Bennett to let her move down here for school and I swear she was here almost every day instead of doing what she moved down here to do.
She was a great help at times when I needed it, but other times like now, where I just needed this quiet time to get work done she was a bother. I wouldn't dare tell her that though because she's already dramatic as hell and I'd probably hurt her feelings but I just needed a day where nobody is visiting or interrupting my quiet time.
"Ryelle, chill out. I'm not trying to keep her from you. You was just over here the other day. Besides, shouldn't you be writing your research paper instead of bothering me?"
"Bye Chyna, I'm not doing this with you right now, and I'll be there later to see Riley." Ryelle hung up on me, like she had been doing the past few conversations that I mentioned her having school work to do.
I had my student portal open but was actually focused now to go through it. My grades were looking better now then they were a few months ago. Dealing with a newborn and Tahj had me stressed and slacking in school. Not only was I dealing with that but trying to keep up with Ryelle was a little too much.
After everything happened that night at our old apartment with the whole Blaze and Arielle shit, Tahj ended up slipping into depression. He was depressed about killing his brother but I continuously made him look at it like if he hadn't did what he did then Blaze would have killed Riley and I. That shit had his head all fucked up because not only had he killed somebody for the first time; but that somebody was his brother.
His depression was starting to let up and he was doing way more than he was months ago, which had me a little less stressed now. He was starting to help with Riley more and even got back into the swing of things in his classes so he could graduate on time this year.
