"I just don't understand why Jake's not calling me back!" Bella complains, "It's been two weeks!"
"Maybe it's because you're a bitch." I offer.
"Elizabeth." Charlie warns, "Billy said he has mono, remember? He'll be better in a few weeks."
"This just isn't like Jake!" Bella complains even further.
"That is exactly like Jake." I snort.
I hear Embry's truck honk, "Bye guys. See you later."
"Have a great first day back Ellie!" Charlie calls as I run out the front door.
"Hey Embry!" I smile as I get in the car.
"Hey Little Swan! Are you excited to be back?" He smiles.
"Yes. I never thought I'd be excited to be back at school."
"I'm happy you're back. We all miss you." Embry says, "By the way, Emily says you have to come over for dinner tonight, you don't get a choice."
I chuckle, "Okay I will definitely be there."
A while later we get to school and head to first period. While we're walking to class, I can't resist the urge to ask about Jacob, "Has Jake been to school lately?"
Embry's eyes get wide, "Um, n-no, he's hasn't. I don't know why." He stutters.
"Huh. That's weird. Bella said he hasn't been calling or texting her back either." I think out loud.
"Yeah that's strange." Embry says awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.
We get to class and Maggie runs up to me when she sees me, engulfing me in a hug.
"Holy shitballs I missed you so much!" She squeals, hugging me tightly.
"I've missed you too but ribs!" I squeal.
"Fuck! I'm so sorry." She says sheepishly, letting me go, "It's just been two weeks since I've seen you."
"I know, I'm so sorry." I tell her, taking my seat.
Just as I say that, none other than Jacob Black walks in the room. Except he cut his hair, he's about 6 inches taller, and he's buffed up... A lot. I can't help but stare. Puberty ran Jake over with a bus and then backed up over him.
