The sunlight burned as Alfred opened the windows. Covering my head I groaned as my head pounded. Even with the sheets over me, I still felt cold and miserable.
"Time to get up Master Perseus." Alfred said removing the blanket from my face and I barely heard him mutter a , "Oh dear." before I turned away and dug my face into the pillow trying to will it to remove the pouding from my head.
"Can you please turn your head Master Perseus." Alfred asked as I felt the bed fall toward the side, the weight of Alfred sitting on my bed was the only excuse I came with.
Groaning I did as I was told but kept my eyes shut and tried to not shake from the cold. I felt a warm hand on my forehead and leaned toward it slightly, "Just what I thought, stay in bed young master. It seems that you aren't going to school today. I will let Master Bruce and Richard know immediately." Alfred said and I felt the bed lift back up and the window blinds close once more and sighed with relief.
Drawing the blankets closer to my body and curled in myself trying to get warmth, I tried to fall back asleep.
I don't know if I succeeded but I did know that I felt the bed dip again and felt another hand on my forehead, this one different. More sturdy and calloused yet had a calming affect.
"You okay bud?" Bruce asked removing some of my hair from my forehead.
"Cold." I mumbled and tried to tug the blanket tighter.
"I'll have Alfred grab some heated blankets." Bruce voice was slight and soft which was nice as it didn't hurt my still throbbing head.
"My head hurts." I said and buried myself into the pillow.
"I'll see if Alfred has anything for that. Dick will stop by after school, can you eat anything?" Bruce asked as he carefully pulled the blankets that fell off my shoulder.
I made a distressed noise at the mention of food as my stomach turned over at the thought. Bruce muttered something and I felt a thermometer being stuck under my tongue.
My nose curled in displeasure but I allowed it to be there until someone took it out. There was more muttering as I felt the rather large bed dip more.
"Don't you have work." I muttered but made myself comfortable next to Bruce who reclined across the bed beside me.
"Nah, just a bunch of paperwork that I wanted to avoid." Bruce joked lightly and wrapped an arm around me as I snuggled into his side enjoying the warmth he was emitting.
"What would you do?" I asked trying not to fall back asleep at the moment.
"Alfred will bring my laptop for me, but in the meantime. Do you have a favorite book?" Bruce asked as he started to mess with my hair lightly and helped me relax more.
"Mom always read Harry Potter to me, don't know why. She just did." I said and struggling to not fall asleep.
"I'll have Alfred fetch the book later." Bruce said continuing to mess with my hair, "In the meantime, get some sleep."
I made a content noise and finally allowed myself to get some sleep. The next time I became cognerount, I was still curled into Bruce who was working on his laptop.
I rubbed my eyes before figuring that it caused too much movement and allowed myself to move into a more sitting position before my arms felt weak and I was half-laying, half-sitting.
"Alfred is making some soup," Bruce said noticing I was awake, "try to get something, there will be crackers as well and some hot tea. Try to have some of it, your body needs it even if you don't think so." Bruce said and moved some of my hair that stuck to my forehead.
I made a noise that was my reluctant agreement. Before I knew it, a tray was set in front of me with soup, crackers, and hot tea.
Reluctantly grabbing the spoon, I smashed some of the crackers not caring if I was supposed to or not, and poured them into the bowl of tomato soup.
I took about three spoonfuls before my stomach felt a twist and I moved away from that and just nibbled on the crackers with the occasional sip of tea.
It was two crackers when I felt really sick and I saw Alfred sigh before moving the tray, leaving me holding the tea.
Almost dropping the tea as my arms felt like weak noodles, I saw Bruce grab the tea before I could really accidently drop it.
He gave me a small smile and placed the tea on the bedside table before I sunk back into the bed and closed my eyes.
"Thanks." I muttered to Bruce who also reclined again and started to work on his laptop.
"No problem." Bruce said.
"Really, thanks. Mom couldn't always do this and it's nice to know you can." I muttered not entirely sure what I was saying still in a daze.
Before I could hear his response I passed out again in the heat of the blankets and Bruce right beside me.
The next time I woke up, Bruce was gone sadly but I figured he was doing something Batman related with the recent breakouts. I heard the door open and the hallway light shine as I groaned away from it,.
"Sorry." I heard Dick's voice say and quickly close the door behind him.
I hesitantly looked into the darkness and watched as Dick came closer to the bed, "How are you feeling?" Dick asked when I felt my cousin's place his hand on my forehead as well.
"Like I'm sick." I said flatly then groaned into my pillow when the light from the hallway shined again.
"Come on Dick, you said we could play in your room." The voice of the annoying Wally entered my room and I groaned even louder.
"I'll be right there Wally." Dick said and then felt my forehead once more.
"Come on Dick." The voice of Roy said and while him I didn't so mind in my room (he was more mature than Wally and nice to have some conversations with the 17 year old said.
I groaned once more into my pillow and out loud said, "Go the hell away before I throw a pillow at you." I threatened and heard Wally snicker.
"Was that suppose to be-ow!" I heard Wally say as I chuckled one of the rather harder pillows at Wally and hit him right in the face.
"Percy" Dick reprimed and when I buried my head in my pillow and groaned said, "We'll talk about language later."
"Fuck off." I said and then turned away from Dick and his annoying friends who were being ushered out by Dick and after a final disapproving glance my way, allowed me to sleep in peace.
The final time I woke up, I was feeling better and found that the door was being opened but the hallway light was off.
"How'd Batman do?" I asked groggily.
"Beat up some bad guys. Same old same old. Heard you threw a pillow at West and Harper, and cuss at them I believe?" Bruce asked and without even knowing knew he had a raised eyebrow.
"They deserved it." I mumbled and felt Bruce's hand on my forehead and heard his relieved sigh.
"I'm sure they did. Other news, tomorrow you'll stay home one more day to recover. But your fever broke." Bruce said and then pulled the covers over me.
"Maybe I should cuss at Wally and Roy more than." I mumbled and smiled when I heard Bruce chuckle.
"Goodnight Percy." Bruce said going out the door.
"Night Bruce." I said and feel back asleep with a smile on my face.
