Chapter 14

Chapter 14- Welcome to hell.

"It's real..." Echo said, looking at the lave the reached for miles and miles into the distance. "You actually had a cross the Sufferer's Sorrow."

"And only at the small price of my tongue and some wing damage." Jinx replied a little to enthusiastically.

"How do we get across?" Ty asked.

"Well, mister Angel, you and your girlfriend there can just walk right across. That simple." Jinx answered. "Lane will fly across with me. Don't worry, as long as he has that Card of ruins on him, he'll be as safe as the ground is for worms."

"But birds find the worms and eat them." Lane said.

"Yes, but the smart ones stay well under ground." Jinx said patting Lane's head with a gloved hand. "We may get separated though, but just find the big skyscraper blood red gates. We'll meet there."

Echo nodded. "Alright. Come on Ty." With that, she and Ty started walking across the lava.

Jinx looked at her wings. They were covered in holes, to big to even remotely fly. She sighed and started to pull off the remaining leathery skin.

"What are you doing?" Lane asked, alarmed.

"It'll grow back in a few minutes time. But all the skin has to be off." Jinx replied tearing off the last pieces. New leathery skin started to grow. Paper thin spider web like lines stretched out between all the bones. They pulled together to make the skin of her wings.

  "You'll have to ride on my back. Unless you want to possibly burn." Jinx said. Lane nodded and jumped onto her back. As soon as Jinx had a hold on him, she was off. Shooting across the lava like a jet.

Neither spoke until they were miles and miles from the entrance gate.

  "What does it feel like to die?" Lane asked.

  "Why do you think I would know?"

"Every one has to die to be immortal. When born demons are born, they die for a moment then come back alive during their birth."

  "Smart boy."

"Answer the question."

  "It feels like landing on a distant shore...you don't know what direction to go...only where you'll possibly end up. Your memories start to fade too, but I only had memories of a womb so it didn't matter to me."

  "How do you remember all that?"

"Born Demons and Angels don't have bodies to find and remind them of their past life, so they have all their memories stored away. And remember what I said about that remembering thing?"

"Yeah."

"Same as that."

"But your like, 400 years old!"

"Some memories stick."

"Do you think Angels and Demons will live in peace ever again?" Lane asked.

"I don"t know, Lane. I've been trying for awhile, but nothing has worked."

Lane laughed, "then you haven't met the head demon."

"...actually I have...she couldn't help either..." Jinx sighed, landing on the ground.

Lane jumped down from Jinx's back. Jinx used her tail to grab his arm and started walking. Lane had no choice but to follow the demon.
They walked until they came to a tall black gate. Echo and Ty weren't there yet, which was a huge surprise. In Jinx's mind, it started to raise red flags.
