Echo walked up stone path. Ty right by her side. Lane and Jinx were a few steps ahead.
It's been a year since Echo last saw Lane. One day he just showed up and demanded they come with him and Jinx. Over the time, Jinx had visited a few times to Echo's ship to give her a report on Lane. But over all, Lane never really showed up.
Even though Jinx was a demon, Echo didn't mind. Sure she didn't trust demons, but Jinx had proved herself. Saving Echo and Ty from the mermaids, fighting her instincts to kill them more then once, and now volunteering to go back into hell and face Eline with them. It was suicide, but it was with a Hybrid, human, and Angel. Though Jinx had the upper hand of being a born demon and having the power to change the odds, Eline could manipulate the mind and body. She could make you see things, visions, illusions. She can make you dance, do cartwheels, sit, or stand, anything she wanted. As long as she knew your name, that is. But she could also see you name, right above your head. So her powers were practically flawless.
"So, Lane will go unharmed?" Ty asked.
"Yes." Jinx replied.
"How, exactly?"
"That's unimportant."
"Are we safe?"
"Negative."
"How can we be safe?"
"Steel yourself."
"Only one of us came do that, idiot." Echo added.
"Emotionally." Lane said.
They reached the gates then.

Jinx's eyes turned red and she turned into her demon form. The gates opened and heat blasted their faces. Echo took a step back but Ty grabbed her hand. Lane flinched at the sudden change of temperature. Jinx looked straight ahead, no doubt facing her worst fear.
