Chapter 15- Prison.
Echo laid on the bed in her cell. Blood still pouring like tears from her eyes. Why Eline kept her alive, she didn't know. Echo only knew that Eline had ruined her one chance at a perfect family. She wouldn't get away with it, even if Echo died as well.
Footsteps started walking her way, stopping at her cell door. The small window opened and two green eyes starred at her. Echo starred back, not even moving to sit up.
"Echo?"
"Lane."
"Where's Ty?"
"He..." She paused. She couldn't tell Lane that his little brother died because of Jinx, or because she didn't fight harder. "He got separated from me."
"Oh...ok."
The door opened and a limp body was thrown inside. Lane was pushed past the door, but that's when Echo noticed his eyes were bloodshot. Could he have seen Ty's body?
The door closed and the body opened two ruby red eyes, starring at the ceiling. After a moment, they slowly shifted onto Echo.
It was Jinx. The black blooded demon was covered head-to-toe in black blood. Hopefully it wasn't all hers. The little-
"Hey, You're alive." Jinx said, sitting up like nothing was wrong.
"So are you."
She laughed, it was a wicked laugh, but it carried a strange lightness. "It isn't my blood if that's what your referring to. It's Eline's guard's blood."
"What about Eline?"
"She got away."
"Couldn't you catch her?"
"Well, yes. But it was be killed or act like a dead body and get dropped in here by her reinforcements."
"Your undead, remember?"
"Oh, yeah...I forget sometimes." Jinx smiled lazily.
"It's like the Dark War all over again..."
"This time a demon is starting it..."
Echo looked over at Jinx, "A demon started it last time too. It had murdered the President and head angel."
"No, it didn't."
"How do you know?"
"I just do..." Jinx obviously was biting her tongue.
"Your right, maybe an Elf started it."
"They didn't...it was Eline...when she was a human."
"How do you know? The Dark War was over 600 years ago."
"The Dark War. Light against Darkness. Thousands died on both sides, and where did it get us? Hm? NO WHERE! The Angels were free to fly about and enjoy the world. But demons were locked up and sentenced to a eternity of misery and enslavement. Was it really worth it? Do you think it was worth all the lives that were taken? From innocent humans, elves, nymphs, animals? The Angels won and differences were settled, but it didn't last long because we were locked into the place that we came from!" Jinx yelled, exploding on the Angel.
"How do you know that your kind didn't do something after the war?" Echo yelled back.
"Because I was there!"
Tears pooled in her eyes now, they were black, just like the tar that was her blood.
"I'm the head demon around here now. Right before the war, my mother died and I took over. It was fun working with the Head Angel and the President...then I was accused of murdering both of them. The new ones ordered all demons be locked away until further notice...""That's why Eline wanted you so badly..." Echo said, the pieces connecting in her head.
"Yeah...she's planning on starting another Dark war, but to do so she needs me to call in the undead to start the charge on the capital."
"What about Satan?"
"The bastard has a head demon for a reason."
Echo stood up and spread her wings. Her eye was bloodshot, but it was filled with anger. Jinx looked at her, smiling. Slowly, she stood up too.
"Let's get out of here."
Jinx walked over to the door. All she had to do was punch the door, and it fell.
"After you, Echo."
Echo made a sarcastic bow and exited the cell. The hallway was empty, even after the loud crash.
"If we're lucky, no one heard that." Jinx said, smirking to herself.
"Funny." Echo mused sarcastically.
Jinx and Echo walked down the long hallway until they came to a dead end. The cells they saw now had barred doors that were easy to see through. Most were empty, but a few held demons who didn't look to happy to see an angel walking by. It even made Echo wonder if the demons knew that Jinx was the Head Demon, or if they had even heard of her. When they walked past the last cell, Echo's questions were slightly answered.
"Well well, if it isn't horse shoe. I heard you got out of this hell from your sheer luck. But your still down here." The demon said.
"I have a name, and I did make it out. I brought back an Angel, human, and a hybrid." She paused, taking in his reaction. "And I didn't have to use my powers once."
The stranger looked at Echo. She nodded. The stranger sat on a stone bench and made a symbol on the wall. His body then turned to ash.
While walking to find Lane, Echo saw another prisoner do the same thing. And two more after that. Did Jinx some how get a chain of suicides to start?

Lane sat in his cell. It was small, and he is deathly afraid of small spaces. He was alone, which was the worst part. Lane knew someone would come for him, but he didn't know when. The room started to shrink little by little every minute and Lane was sure he was going to be squished like a bug.
To keep himself from hyperventilating, he thought over the past few years. The angel deaths. The music starting. Meeting Jinx on the train. Almost losing Ty, Echo, and Jinx to the mermaids. Running tests on Jinx at his lab. Jinx telling him about a vision or a nightmare with Eline in it. Jinx and him dancing away the night. Telling Echo that Jinx was a demon here to help them. Jinx bringing them into hell. Finally being stuck in a cell. But it all went back to the angel murders.
Why were only angels dying?
A light clicked on in his head as he jumped up to the sound of the cell door falling open.
