Chapter 11- Blueberry Rainbow Rum

The house was made of stone, and that stone was covered in moss and vines. Tress were like security guards in the front, and something that looked like an army base was in the back surrounded by barb wire and a seven foot high wire fence. A sign was stuck on every other section, it read:

CAUTION- High Voltage.

Jinx smiled at the signs, she really hopped Lane would test her with that.

"I would like you to wear this." Lane said pulling a ring from his pocket. It was lime green and had small diamonds dotting around it, it gave a ghoulish glow that made the whole ring look like it was black.

"I didn't think you were gonna ask to marry me." Jinx laughed.

Lane blushed. "I-it's just to keep you from using your powers."

"Alright then." Jinx pulled off her right hand glove and put the ring on her middle finger. It tightened a little but not to where she would be able to pull it off.

"There's also a change of clothes inside for you..." Lane said, still blushing. "Follow me."

They both walked into the house and Jinx's breath caught. A panther stood right in front of them. Sure, it wasn't a sign of bad luck, but it was still a black cat.

"You'll have to excuse Lyla. She isn't used to new people." Lane said, walking around the big cat.

Jinx didn't move and that made Lane alarmed. "Your not afraid of her are you? I could put her out front of you want."

Jinx didn't say anything. She didn't move. She didn't even blink. But Lyla moved, she pounced on Jinx and stayed hunched over her despite Lane's commands to get off.

To Lane's surprise, however, Jinx started laughing. That laugh that was so innocent and carried no threat. It almost made her sound human.

Jinx laid laughing on the floor while Lyla rolled over onto her back to lay by Jinx. The carnivore's tongue hung from the side of its mouth and it's tail swayed playfully. Jinx sat up and scratched the big cat's belly.

Lane let out a small laugh. "Do all demons like cats this much?"

"well black cats and me do get along...but usually animals attack demons like they would humans."

Lane nodded and pulled out a notebook and a pen. He wrote it down and started toward the back hallway. Jinx got up and followed, Lyla right beside her.

Lane pulled a hanger from the hallway closet. It supported a black tank top and gray cargo pants, as well as a pair of combat boots tied together at the laces around the hook of the hanger.

Jinx took the hanger and went into the bathroom Lane had showed her.

After changing and setting her previous outfit in the guest bedroom along with her hat and gloves. She had left her shoes at the front door.

Slipping the boots on that Lane gave her, she walked into the backyard.

"Welcome to physical testing." Lane said, Lyla sat next to him.

"Just tell me what to do."

"First you won't be able to use your powers. Then you'll run the course again with your powers. Then once more with a robot, half way with your powers and half way without."

"Sounds easy enough."

Lane gestured to the glass wall with a rope hanging on it behind him. "That's your first obstacle. I'll be on the other side, and go ahead and grow your wings'n'stuff."
