Chapter 8

Chapter 8- Demonic Creatures

"Her name will be Echo." Eline had said. "She'll wear a bandage over her eye. Her wings are very light silver-purple."

"And she's a pirate." Jinx said.

"Yes. Don't trust her, or anyone else. Ye just need to kill her and get back with the wings. It's our only way out." Eline had warned before Jinx started her flight over the miles and miles of rocketing lava towards the gate.

"One question." Jinx had asked, "where's her body?"

"In the deepest part of the ocean...with the mermaids." Eline had replied happily.

"Their murders." Jinx said, more to herself then Eline.

"But they serve the devil. " Eline said, "and take this." Eline held out a chain of linked earrings. "Wear these and ye can enter dreams. As well as minds and others bodies. Manipulation too. It should give ye some more strength as well."

"Thanks.." Jinx said, putting them on. "You'll know if I succeed or fail."

Then she was gone. Darting over the lava shooting up to hit her. Her powers made this the perfect job for her. Now that Jinx was strong enough she could get out. And hopefully in one piece.

Jinx stood on the plank hanging over the side of the ship, looking down at the crystal clear ocean below. She had almost passed out when she saw the water. It was so clear it made the ship look like it was floating.

Jinx watched as the boys swam below her in the water. Echo said she'd rather not get her wings wet. Jinx only agreed to swim because Echo had the Skeletons make her a swimsuit. It was a ruby red bikini top and pitch black booty-shorts.

After convincing herself that it wasn't blessed on by a priest, Jinx jumped into the water.

When Jinx resurfaced, some of her curls fell into her face. She heard the boys laugh.

"Shut up." Jinx said sending a splash toward them both.

"Hey!" Ty yelled. His hands turned to steel and he sent a mini wave toward Jinx.

Jinx raised her hand and it stopped, then fell back into the calm water.

She formed a ball of water in the air. Then turned it to snow. Finally launching it up to Echo in the crow nest. It hit directly in the middle of the back of her head. Jinx was proud of her control over her new powers.

Echo shot a death glare down at the three in the water.

Lane moved closer to Ty.
Ty glared back.
Jinx slowly sank down into the water.

When Jinx opened her eyes, she saw a small movement. She blinked the thoughts away and resurfaced.

"Lane, get away from it." Ty said, pulling his brother back.

"Ty it's for research!" Lane said trying to free himself.

Jinx looked around, dark triangles circled them seemingly endless. The water had turned pitch black for miles from what Jinx could see. If she could let her eyes change, she'd be able to see through it. Instead she resorted to mind reading.

Ty's thoughts right now consisted of protecting Lane. As well as not turning fully steel so he wouldn't sink.

Lane was terrified, but honestly wanted to get a good look at the things.

There were more thoughts all around. Consisting of only two words.
Kill.
Demon.

"Creepy." Jinx muttered.
