It was a very early in the morning when Lauren returned home after a night out on the town.
She had a couple of hits and a lot to drink. She didn't realize she had to go to work in a few hours.
As she fell onto the bed, not even having the energy or coordination to take off her clothes, she noticed that she was carried in by a man. A man she did not recognize.
"Who are you?" she asked, but before he could answer Lauren passed out.
After what seemed like forever but was just half an hour after the man took off, the alarm clock went off. Lauren grunted, hit the snooze button and dozed off again. She did this for the next couple of minutes before getting up. She was still drunk when she got out of the shower. As Lauren got dressed the doorbell rang. Getting to the door was hard, as she was still not able to walk fast in a straight line.
"Good morning," a happy voice said when she answered the door. "How was your weekend?"
"Morning." Lauren said in a groggy voice.
"You sound terrible." The man said.
"I didn't get a lot of sleep last night." Lauren said as she stumbled to the bedroom to finish getting dressed and putting on make-up.
"Wow, you're really wobbly." The man said.
"Shut up Mike." Lauren said.
"Let's get going then." Tom said wondering why she called him Mike, "Or we'll be late for the first assembly at school. You know, the first student / teacher assembly since the Christmas break." Tom said.
"O, God. I forgot. I hate those assemblies." Lauren said as she filled up two travel mugs with coffee and got her bag. "Let's go."
Tom drove a really nice car, but he wasn't a great driver. Lauren sat back and tried to get some rest before arriving at the school.
"What's wrong with you?" Tom said. "You're usually more talkative.
"I'm tired." Lauren said as she closed her eyes and took a sip of coffee, but she missed her mouth and coffee spilled all over her coat. "Shit."
"It's okay, don't worry. We'll fix that." Tom said calmly.
"Whatever. I'm a screw up anyway." Lauren said.
"What? Why would you say that?"
"Well, I got home pretty late last night with a guy. But I can't remember if I slept with him or who he even was." Lauren said.
"What the hell? Were you drunk?"
"I was pretty hammered. I had a couple of shots and a few pills. Just to get buzzed and relax a bit before going back to work today."
"But you're not supposed to be taking anything. Remember, recovery."
"O, that bitch." Lauren chuckled.
The rest of the car ride nobody said a word. As the car pulled up to the school Fallen Angels by Aerosmith came on the radio. "This is my favorite song." Tom said. "Mine too." Lauren said. Tom turned up the volume. The music blared out of the speakers and the students that the car passed looked to see what the noise was. The car stopped and Lauren and Tom got out of the car. "Lauren, you okay? You look white."
"I'm fine." Lauren said before she dove in the bushes to throw up.
