I've got a story to tell you, a story about me and some monsters... Yes, the bedtime stories your mother and father told you when you were young are real. They're all real, from vampires to werewolves, and a thousand more that I can go on about; but I don't have that much time to tell you. My story begins with where I was last night...
The night was cold for only being summer, the street lamps were burning it's midnight oil as the night went on. No birds made a peep which was oddly strange and no wind was even in the air. It was silent, clearly cars were still going but it was farther away from where I was...
I silently walk down the streets with my hands in my pocket, my eyes scan the darken alleyways in hopes of finding the rogue god that escaped my grasp earlier today. Come on, I know you're out there, I thought to myself as my fingers grasp the olive soaked stake that was hidden in my jacket and check my surroundings to make sure I don't get jumped by the god.
A silhouetted figure passes in the alleyway, causing me to stop in mid-step and I say in a calm, collected voice, "I know you're out there. Hiding in the shadows, afraid of me."
Nothing but silence and darkness greeted me with unprovided answers that drifted to my ears.
I patiently wait for the rogue god to show itself, I shift uncomfortably on my feet and I hear trash cans tumble to the ground; causing the sound to echo throughout the many alleyways. "Come on, you can't be that afraid of me. I'm only a puny mortal who is defenseless and weak." I bring my jacket closer to my body, the air suddenly turning stale and I knew right then that he was close.
A bit of laughter dances throughout the air, the silhouetted figure flints across my vision and a voice says, "I'm not afraid of you, you're just a piece of scum that needs to be put to rest. You're an end to many means." Footsteps could be heard now, clinking away on the asphalt that lead to other unknown places that haven't been ventured to.
I shake my head at the god's taunting, not quite affected by it and I say cynically, "Oh, give it a rest. I've heard plenty of threats like that from werewolves, and other creature... And you know what happened to them? They all died, now show your bloody face." My voice echoed through the alleyway, bouncing off the red brick walls.
The figure slowly walks out of the shadows, his face placid and his pupils were slitted like a feline. The green in his eyes shining. The god was wearing a trench coat that practically skimmed the asphalt, he wore a well looking suit underneath the trench coat and when your eyes settled onto his feet. He wore those well-polished shoes that you can see in the 1944 pictures that were pointed near the toe area. He looks like a creepy, yet handsome stalker like guy and he leans against the broken car.
The god stares at me with a bored look, clearly wanting to leave and and says, "Well you see me, can I go now or are you going to stake me with that twig? Because I have a thing later that I can't miss for the life of me."
I silently curse to myself, a bit surprised that the god knew about my stake and I pull it out anyways. A smile now spreads onto my lips, causing me to be more animalistic and I say, "You're not going anywhere. You've killed over twenty people in just two weeks, Cronus. You need to be eliminated."
Cronus raises an eyebrow at me, bemused at my threat and opens his arms to give me a better look at where to hit. "Go on human, kill me. Just make sure it's clean..."
I decide to take this opportunity, I charge at him with the stake pointed at his heart. Determined to kill the God and grin like a madman.
Cronus doesn't move from his spot, the bemused look still engraved on his face, and then grabs me by the throat and arm; he throws me at the brick wall.
My whole body rattled at the impact, the stake falls from my grasp and it rolls towards Cronus. I fall to the ground, my body feeling broken and I try to breath. Clearly the impact has winded me, and I couldn't really catch my breath. My bangs goes in my face, blurring my vision a little and I cough.
He picks up the stake with grace, he walks over to me and says, "You know what confuses me? Humans like you who play with toys that aren't meant to be touched by any of you. You think it's okay to play with these, but once you mundanes manage to get your grubby little fingers on these. You go off to play hero." He kneels down in front of me, holding the stake in his left hand and grabs a chunk full of my hair to look me in the eyes. His green, feline eyes study mine and sighs softly.
I grit my teeth, blood coming from the cut on my lip and I growl out, "Maybe because people like me lost someone to one of you, you disgusting piece of-..." I was cut off before I could finish my sentence,
The god cuts me off with his index finger, he chuckles at me and says, "People die, Bram. Even if it was caused by something paranormal like me. You humans tend to be irrational about things and it stirs up trouble, for you and for me." He lets go of my hair and walks away with his back turned on me.
I spit out the blood, a malicious smile playing on my lips and I pull out my gun. I point my gun at Cronus, my finger on the trigger and I-...
"Freeze, put your hands in the air with the gun on the ground!" A loud voice yells from behind me.
I close my eyes, sighing and slowly set the gun onto the asphalt. I turn around to see a police officer pointing a gun at me, I put my hands in the air and I say, "I can explain." I could hear Cronus chuckle and I try to keep cool. At the worst time too, if only I pulled out my gun sooner Cronus would've been dead by now.
The officer walks over to me, cuffing my hands and says, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?" The officer leads me to her car, she opens the back door. Grabbing the back of my head and mutters, "Watch your head."
I get into the car, looking into the alleyway and see Cronus smirking at me. I watch as the officer closed the door and I see Cronus disappear into the shadows, his green, feline eyes taunting me. My body seething with anger, I kick the door and curse.
The officer drives off, heading to the police station.
