Roan's POV:
I look at Cronus, my eyes full of hate and I say, "I was at the café, sir." I could tell by the posture of his body that he was displeased with my words.
He sits up in his chair, his feline eyes reverting back to the original green color that it was and he plants his feet in the carpet. He gets up out of his chair, standing up straight and starts to approach me. He taps the knife against the mahogany table, he starts to say, "My friend, I don't think you know what the stakes are if you are lying to me. Hmm?"
I don't reply, still staring at him and I soon found my voice, "I'm telling you the truth, sir." I bow my head in fake respect and I prayed to god that he would believe me.
His footsteps stop.
I close my eyes harder, still praying...
"Roan, look at me." Cronus says in a low voice.
I begin to raise my head, my eyes now open and I notice that the knife was pointed at me. I swallowed, fear coursing through my veins and I say, "Sir?"
"If I find out you're not telling me the truth, Lilian will be paying the price. Not you, you sister." He replies.
I exhale slowly, nodding and I rest my hands on the table. I answer with, "Yes, sir. I understand. Are we dismissed?"
He shook his head at me, and then he stabs my hand with the knife.
I inhaled my scream, the pain eloping around my body and I noticed that blood was pooling out from the wound. I look back at Cronus and see that he was smiling at the pain he conflicted on me.
My sister gasps at what Cronus did, but doesn't move from her seat.
"Now you can leave, remember that I'll have my people watching you until then treat yourself to a bar or go to a club. Considering you drink." He remarks, giving me a tiny wave of his hands as a dismissal.
I yank the knife out of my hand, flinching as more blood pools onto the mahogany table and I wipe the blood off the knife. I stand up, marching out of the room and head out to Bram's apartment,
----------------------------------------------
Bram's POV:I throw out my blood soaked shirt, my hands trembling and I go to my closet to grab another shirt. I put it on slowly, wincing once fabric hits my skin and I walk out into my living room. I was told by my father that if I don't straighten out before the fall hits, he'll have Tokoshi and Thaddeus kill me.
Dorian was sleeping on the couch, faint purring coming from him and I stroke his fur.
I pick up the papers off the coffee table, and throw them in the trash can. I move my couch out into the kitchen and grab my mat. I toss it on the carpet, I exhale slowly and begin my meditation. Blocking out any noise coming from my apartment.
10 minutes later...
A loud knock comes from my apartment door, then it stops.
I continue with the meditation, and cleared my mind of any thoughts. Probably just the mailman...
Another knock.
I give out a growl, I get up off the ground and walk over to my door. I unlock it and I whip open the door. My eyes widen in shock as I see that it was Roan and I say, "Roan, what are you doing here? Cronus will find out." My eyes searched his, but nothing was there. I notice that his left hand was bleeding out and I gasp softly.
He doesn't reply to my question, he takes a step towards me and hugs me.
He mutters, "He won't find out, I only came because I couldn't bandage my wound and I have to then leave."I bring him into my apartment, I drag him over to my bedroom and I sat him on my bed. "Wait here." I say as I walk into my bathroom, I grab the first aid kit ,and pull out the bandages and peroxide. I walk back into my room to see that he wasn't sitting on my bed. I turn around to see that he was holding up my bloody shirt. I wince slightly, setting the equipment down.
"When did this happen?" He says lowly, his good hand holding it up in front of me.
I walk over to him, grabbing the shirt out of his grasp and I say, "Roan, I can't talk about that." I throw it back into the trash and grab his good hand. I gently pull him over to my bed, but he doesn't budge.
He stared at me and says, "Show me your back, Bram."
I sigh softly, knowing that he would've found out anyways and I lift up my shirt. "It wasn't your fault." I say softly, looking at the ground.
He scoffs softly, shaking his head and says, "Who did it?" His voice sounded cold.
I put down my shirt, I turn around to face Roan and say, "My father... I wasn't being a cooperative son, so he gave me 100 lashes as punishment for disobeying him." I wrap my arms around his neck, and I mutter, "Let's just forget about my problems right now. Your hand is going to get infected if I don't clean it." I look up at him, waiting for him to agree.
He detaches my arms from his neck, he grabs the peroxide and pours it on his injury. He clenched his teeth to keep the scream in check and wrapped it up. He doesn't look at me when he does this, he says, "I'm going to stay here one more night, but after that we better stay away from one another." He looks at me, waiting for an answer.
I bite my tongue to keep myself from screaming at him, so I just nod. I grab the peroxide, taking it to the bathroom and I could hear Roan sighing softly. I turn on the cold water, and I splash my face. I don't know what to say to him, I wanted to scream at him and ask him to change his mind. But that was too dangerous. I turn off the faucet and head back into my room.
Roan was passed out on my bed, his shoes still on and his one leg was over the edge.
I shake my head, I pull off his shoes and I crawl up next to him. I kiss his cheek, and wrap my arms around him.
He shifts a bit in my grasp, he turns around to face me and he mutters, "I'm sorry." He touches my cheek, his brown eyes full of grief and he says softly, "It's better to be away from one another till you defeat Cronus."
I close my eyes when he touches my cheek, I chew on my lower lip and I say, "How are you certain that I can defeat Cronus? What happens if he defeats me?" I was now feeling all sorts of regret, I wasn't sure now why I agreed to do this mission. I reopen my eyes to see that Roan was giving me a small smile.
"Please, I don't think I would be here if I didn't believe that you could defeat him and I have no doubt that I fell in love with a warrior." He tries to comfort me, but his words didn't help me.
Alright guys I have to tell you, this is not how I predicted this particular part to go. But it'll stick for now, I would like to thank amare- for reading my story. Please check out her work on her page. Love you all! ❤️
