Chapter one
Arrogant, selfish and heartless. This was how Cara Andersen viewed Jake Ericsson, the It guy of the school. The guy that girls would want to date and the guy that all guys would want to be. Just one smile from him, would leave girls breathless.
Unfortunately, Cara doesn't see him that way- she sees him as a monster. And she thinks that it's his good looks that hindered girls to see his ugly side.
Well, everyone has their two sides, a good and an ugly.
"Oh.My.God! It's Jake!!" Cara heard someone scream from her back. Followed by that were the sound of stilettos clacking and high pitch screams of their female schoolmates. Cara pulled her best friend, Emilie and ran out of the scene before they get crushed by a mob of girls. Unfortunately, they got caught in the crowd before they could even run.
"Stop pushing me!" Emilie shouted and tightened her grip on her best friend's arm. "Ow!" Cara shrieked and quickened her pace. They got several elbows from the girls before they managed to go out.
"I probably have at least three or so bruises now," Cara complained. "I counted, I have three," Emilie said as she brushed her pale blond hair with her fingers. Cara struggled a little as she tied her light brown hair into a high pony-tail and carrying her hand bag. "Let me carry that," Emilie took her best friend's bag. "Thanks," Cara said in a muffled voice as the pony tail holder was in her mouth. After tying her hair she took back her bag.
"Those girls are crazy!" Cara said, frustrated. When she gets frustrated, she walks faster and faster. And that would make it hard for Emilie, especially now that she's in her Jimmy Choo heels with black straps.
"Hey slow down!" Emilie exclaimed as she tried to run in her heels. Cara stopped and turned around with her hands on her waist. She was already a few feet away from Emilie, so she impatiently tapped her foot as she waited.
Emilie Archibald was the fashion diva of the whole campus. She can transform anyone from ugly to pretty. She's also one of the gossip sources and a terrible secret keeper when it comes to her best friend. She can keep secrets from others, but not Cara- which is why Cara's surprise birthday parties were never mentioned to her. As you can see, she's perfect in the outside.
But that doesn't mean it's likewise for the inside. After all, nobody's perfect.
"May I ask why you're wearing high heels? Wait, let me guess, it's because the outfit can't be perfect without it, isn't it?" Cara mused. The two girls started walking again and Emilie was still having quite a hard time catching up, even though Cara already slowed down.
"Opposite of yes, it's so I can be taller," Emilie said proudly and held her head high . Cara looked at her. Well, she is pretty short, she's already wearing heels but Cara's still two inches taller than her.
"I see," Cara muttered. The two made a left turn and finally reached their school's cafeteria for lunch.
"Did you hear that Jake's still single?"
"Oh yes! I wonder who will be the lucky girl!"
"He's so perfect!"
"OMG! He's so hot!"
Cara put on her headphones and turned up the music to take a break from all those praises for Jake. Well, imagine yourself being stuck in a room of girls talking about the person you hate the most like he's some god or something.
I heard he's a son of Aphrodite ;)
Cara's eyes widened when she read the note Emilie passed to her. She looked up to see her best friend smirking. "Seriously?" Cara mouthed with her eyes narrowed. Emilie shrugged her shoulders and went back to eating her food. Cara crushed the paper and made her way to the dustbin.
