Falling for him
Chapter four
Emilie squealed and her cheeks turned red. “You? With Damian? On a date?” she asked excitedly. She was like some four year old who received everything in her wish list for Christmas- excited, happy and dancing around the room squealing.
“Yep,” Cara said, popping the ‘p’ in the word. The two girls were at the toilet re-tying their hair and washing their face. They were all sweaty and hot after a long run during physical education- even a long shower at the shower room wasn’t enough to cool them down.
“We should totally go out after school to get your outfit!” Emilie said as she applied lip gloss on her lips. After puckering them, she applied a little eye-shadow and checked her image for the last time. “I’d rate myself an eight for image,” she said to herself.
Cara gave her a weird look, “Why an eight?” she asked. Cara tied her hair into a messy bun. She was wearing a pair of skinny jeans and a tube top with a vest worn over it. If only her locker weren’t forced open and her extra clothes weren’t torn into pieces – probably one of Stephanie’s doings, she wouldn’t be wearing that outfit.
“Well, we girls gotta save our perfect tens for special occasions,” she said with a smile. Cara rolled her eyes. “You should tie your hair into a ponytail, it’s looks better” Emilie went to her and undid her hair and tied it into a neat ponytail. “There,” she said as she stepped back.
Cara looked different. She wasn’t in her usual jeans and t-shirts, and Emilie did her make-up. It was pretty weird as she doesn’t wear make-up to school.
When they came out Cara got a lot of attention. It was the usual “OMG! You’re so pretty!” and “Looking good, Cara!” sayings. Cara just smiled and thanked them. They caught up with Damian and Jake on the corridor. Cara smiled at Damian.
“Hey,” Damian greeted pulling her to hug. Cara breathed in his scent and hugged back. Emilie noticed Jake stiffened and his jaw was clenched. Jealous much?
“You look beautiful,” he told her. Cara blushed and smiled shyly. Emilie smirked at Jake, Jake glanced at her then looked away. Emilie went beside Jake.
“Jealous much?” Emilie teased. She looked up, his jaw was still clenched and was glaring at Cara and Damian, well, mostly glaring at Damian.
“I’m going now, tell Damian I’ll meet him at the sports hall for the inter-class competition,” he said coldly before leaving. Cara noticed Jake leaving and told Damian. The two gave Emilie a questioning look and she just shrugged her shoulders.
“He said he’ll go first, meet him at the sports hall for the inter-class competition,” Emilie said. Damian nodded and said goodbye to the two girls and left. Emilie waited until Damian was completely gone to tell Cara what happened to Jake.
“That guy will never be jealous, he has a lot of options,” Cara told Emilie as they walked. Emilie just shrugged, she didn’t want to argue that time. She was still thinking whether it would be Damian or Jake who would be perfect for her best friend. Haha, I feel like I’m cupid, she thought.
Time went unusually fast. Before the girls knew it, school was over and went to the sports hall. There were only a few people in the place. There was Damian, Jake and their friends, Stephanie and her clique, A few photographers and IT people with their high-tech gadgets. For protection from Stephanie and her clique, Cara and Emilie sat with the people on the front seats.
The first game was floorball. Jake and his team were against some of their fellow football players. The opposing team had bigger and burlier people, most of them were football players. Jake’s team had different athletes from different sport groups- there were swimmers, gymnasts, basketball players and footballers – which is them.
