Emilie thought hard trying to remember the boys with Jake the other day she and Cara were at the school cafeteria. She tapped her pen to the rhythm of the music she was listening to. Getting impatient, she looked at her watch from time to time and then around the place to look for Cara. Where the hell is that girl? She thought as she kept her pen and pencil in her bag. Then, she went to Cara’s class. Her last period was Math.
Unfortunately, no one was in the classroom. Worried, she called her on the phone but no one was answering. She walked back and forth, biting her nails, worried sick about her best friend. She looked around trying to see who was around that both know her and Cara. Luck seemed to be on her side, as not long after, Damian passed by. She pulled his arm to get his attention.
“Hey, Emilie here, remember me?” Emilie asked. Worry was written all over her face. Damian smiled and nodded. “Of course, you’re Cara’s friend.”
Emilie felt relieved. “Yeah, um… do you know where she is?” she asked. Damian looked shocked. Seriously, why did he have to be so Angelique? Well, his name is Damian.
“She met an accident during Physical Ed, I’m surprised you didn’t know,” he replied. “What?!” Emile exclaimed which got a few students’ attention. How could she not know this? After all, Cara is her best friend.
“Yeah, I was there when the accident happened, I’m actually on my way to visit her,” He told her as he tightened his lips. Those full yummy lips. “Wanna come?” He asked. Emilie nodded; she was still worried with her friend.
“So… while the girls were playing Handball she tripped and broke a bone?” Emilie chuckled. Not that she was happy about her best friend breaking a bone, she found it amusing on how her best friend could be such a klutz at times. She may not be clumsy all the time but when she is, it only tells people she’s gonna get injured.
Damian nodded, “But I don’t think it’s an accident, after what happened the other day I’m sure girls are after her.”
“I know that, I even told her about it,” Emilie rolled her eyes. State the obvious much?
“Jake can be such a player when he’s single, but when he has feelings for a certain girl, he’ll do everything to get her,” Damian told her with a smile. They finally reached Cara’s house. He ran out of the car and opened the door for Emilie. What a gentleman.
“So… you mean the player can be serious in relationships?” Emilie asked. “Yep, in fact, everyone in the group can,” Damian replied before they stopped on the doorsteps of Cara’s house. Emilie pressed the doorbell and not long after, Cara older brother Blake opened the door.
“Hey Em, Hey Ian,” Blake greeted with a smile. Blake’s the second oldest among the four Andersen siblings. He has blonde hair and blue eyes, quite the opposite of Cara who has brown hair and sea-green eyes. Damian nodded with a grin while Emilie smiled and gave out a small wave.
“Cara’s upstairs,” Blake said as the two came in. “Probably sleeping though,” he added. Damian nodded and Emilie led him to the Cara’s room.
“How did her bro know you?” Emilie asked. She may have known him since they were in sixth grade, but she doesn’t really know a lot about him. Probably the things she knows about him is he exists, he’s hot and he’s a gentleman. “Cara and I have known each other since we were kids, our moms know each other,” Damian replied as he knocked and opened the door.
“Oh hi guys,” Cara greeted with a sweet smile. Her left leg was bandaged and she was moving around in crutches.
“Hey,” Damian walked to her and gave her a peck on the cheek. Emilie just came to her and gave her a tight hug.
“I was worried sick about you and we have a lot to talk about,” Emilie whispered before pulling back. Damian sat on the chair that was near the window, with the sun’s rays shining on him, golden eyes shone along with his blonde hair. Emilie sat beside him.
“So what actually happened?” Emilie asked as she crossed her legs and hugged her backpack. Cara sat and settled herself on the bed. She sighed and began telling them what happened.
“Hey Cara dear can you do me a favor?” Stephanie asked as she tied her shoe laces. “It would be a really big help,” she said sweetly. The rest of the girls in the shower room were whispering to one another. Every girl knows Stephanie won’t talk to a girl unless a) she’s a friend of the person or B) that girl’s gonna get hurt and finally c) she’s a rival in the competition called ‘Jake-athon’. Cara gulped and nodded hesitantly.
“Get your paws off my Jake will ya?” Stephanie said, her sweet smile vanished and turned into a scowl. Cara stepped back, “Sure.” After that, she immediately went out of the room.
She was walking so fast that she didn’t even know who the people she was passing by to. People greeted her and she just says hi back even though she doesn’t know who it was. Her luck wasn’t by her side.
“Oof,” she grunted. She bumped into someone’s chest. She looked up to see who it was and it was unfortunately Jake. He was unfortunately there holding her in his arms and Stephanie was unfortunately there furious. Uh oh… Cara thought.
“What’s with the rush?” Jake asked smiling. Cara didn’t say anything and ran to the indoor sports hall for Physical Education. Can this day get any worse?
“Okay class, we’ll be playing handball. But it won’t be mixed, it’ll be boys against boys and girls against girls,” their coach said then blew the whistle. Everyone dispersed and went to their teams. Cara tried avoiding Stephanie’s but not long after, most of Stephanie’s team mates were already glaring at her.
When the game started, everyone was busy blocking, intercepting and catching the ball. Cara avoided Stephanie throughout the game. But when her team mate gave her the ball, Stephanie pounced on her to intercept the ball which caused Cara to fall and broke a bone.
“Cara!” Damian shouted and ran to her. The pain was unbearable, she couldn’t stop her tears from falling. “Sh… it’s okay, I’m here,” Damian said as he carried her bridal style. Their coach already called the ambulance and told everyone to go back to their games. Damian stayed by Cara’s side until the ambulance came.
“Wow, Stephanie’s a bitch,” Emilie said. She looked at Damian, he had his jaws and fists clenched. “If only she wasn’t a girl, I would have punched her to mars,” he muttered. Emilie heard it and laughed nervously, “Please don’t.” But inside her, she’d be happy to see Stephanie being punched to mars.
“Guys, do not do anything to her or her friends okay?” Cara told them. Damian smiled and nodded his head while Emilie tightened her lips and looked somewhere else.
