It was the day before the National Championship, Kate had been keeping it secret that she was going to surprise Rick by going to Arizona.

 She knew the whole school and the fans of Stanford were all shocked that Rick was leading them to the NCAA Championship in his freshman year! 

And the best part was today was Rick's birthday! Kate was thrilled, she would get to be with him on his birthday and his big game. They had gotten back from Hawaii 2 weeks before. 

It had been amazing! Her parents had taken her to Maui and then Oahu. Rick had gotten her a very nice dress for her birthday, she had putten it to use to because he had taken her on a date on their last night there. 

Now a 2 weeks later they were not only celebrating his birthday but he was going to adopt jay. The judge had granted it to him. 

Now he was saying goodbye to Jay as he got ready to leave for the airport. "Lanie make sure to.." "Rick I've watched him before calm down!" She said and he took a deep breath. 

"Right, sorry." He said. "I wish Kate was here, I wanted to say goodbye, and thank her for letting me place Jay with you guys." He said and she smiled, he hadn't figured it out!

 "I'm sure you'll see her soon." She winked and he shrugged. "Hopefully." He said. "Bye little man." he said rubbing Jay's back, he threw a goodbye to Lanie before grabbing his suitcase and running out.

 He and the team had been practicing like crazy! It's not everyday you get to the national championship! It was the college version of the Super Bowl! 

"Hey man." Javi said when he saw Rick walk up. "Hey." He said said back. "You ready?" Javi said and Rick took a deep breath. "Yea Just excited mostly." He said and Javi chuckled. 

"Javi did you happen to get the 'thing'?" Rick asked and Javi nodded. "Yea! Picked it up this morning." He said and Rick smiled. "Thanks!" He said and Javi nodded passing him the box. 

"When are you gonna do it?" He asked and Rick blew some air out. "I think when I get back." He said and Javi nodded. "Go for it dude! I'm with you." He said and Rick smiled. 

"Alright fellas! Let's bored." Jim said. The team began walking to the private jet. 

As they began boarding Rick was sad as he realized he hadn't gotten to say goodbye to Kate, she hadn't even wished him a happy birthday.

 He sighed and began walking up the steps of the plane when he began hearing something. He could have sworn he was hearing someone yell his name. 

"Hey man look who's coming!" Javi said and Rick turned around. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he saw Kate running with a suitcase in her hands. "Kate?" He whispered.

 He descended down the steps and met her halfway. "What are you doing here!?" He asked and she smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him.

 "Surprise! I'm coming with you." She said and he gasped. What!?" He said astonished. She smiled and he began spinning her around. "Best birthday ever." He said and she smiled.

 "Happy birthday babe." She said and pecked his lips. "RICK COME ON!" Javi yelled and Rick chuckled. "They wouldn't leave without me." he said and Kate giggled. 

Rick took her suitcase and smiled when she placed her hand in his as they walked into the plane. The pull door closed behind them as they walked in the aisle. 

"Hey lovebirds we were nice, you two can have the big seats." Javi said and both smiled. "Thanks guys." he said and they all mumbled making them laugh. 

"Katie." Jim said when he saw his daughter. "Hey daddy." She said standing up to give her father a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for keeping it a secret." She said and Rick gasped.

 "You knew coach?" He asked and Jim chuckled. "Oh yea, Katie begged me, I figured it would be nice and happy birthday." He winked. 

"Thanks coach." He said and Jim nodded, giving him a pat on the shoulder before walking to the back of the plane to take a seat. 

Rick was near the window and Kate was mad that she couldn't get close to him because of the arm rest in between them. Rick saw the look on her face and chuckled.

 "What's wrong?" He asked and she bit her lip. "I wanna snuggle next to you but this is in the way." She said and he smiled. "Babe your so cute." He said and she scrunched up her nose.

 "What?" She asked and he smiled, placing a fluttering kiss on her nose. He unbuckled his seat belt to reach back. 

He lifted a hatch and Kate gasped when the arm rest flew up to sit Vertically in between in the cress of the two seats instead of in the middle. He wiggled his eyebrows making her roll her eyes.

 He took a blanket out of his bag and spread it out. She smiled softly and snuggled next to him laying her head on his chest as he placed the blanket over them.

 Rick took out his Ipad and went on Netflix. Kate began laughing when she saw him log into the Kid's section. "What?" He said and she kept laughing. 

"Hey! I'd rather watch Disney them some weird horror movie." He defended and she smiled. "Same here babe." She said and he smiled. 

They decided on watching Toy Story, Rick said he grew up on that movie getting an agreement from Kate. 

As they watched the movie Rick caressed his hand through Kate's hair and smiled. 

She had come..She had come for him, to support him because she knew how much he wanted and needed it. 

He smiled wider and wondered how lucky he had gotten! He began to feel her breath even out and realized she was falling asleep.

 He kissed her head and turned his head so that he was near hers. 

He brushed some hair out of her face and whispered.....

"I love you."
