"Ethan! It hurts!" she whined. "I know it does love, but there's nothing I can do about it." "Will you kiss it and make it feel better?" she pleaded. Her eyes were beautiful and dilated, but they weren't the same as they were in the car. "Kiss your cast?" I smirked and she nodded enthusiastically. I grinned and kissed up her arm, all the way to her face, making her giggle. "I have a 3:00 and it's 2 already, so I need to go to the dry cleaners and pick up my suit." "I hate when people say that," she mumbled and looked up at me again, "A 3:00 what?" "A meeting love! There's one at 3 and another at 7 and I still have to go the bank, so I'll be out for the rest of the day. Do you think you can take care of yourself?" I said before turning around to see that she had knocked over a bottle of juice with her cast and it spilled onto the floor. "I'll clean it up." she reassured and reached for the broom with the wrong hand and made it fall over, hitting her feet. "Owww!" she squeaked and started whimpering, running into my arms. "Shh shh, I know darling. Maybe you should just get some rest." I sighed rubbing her back gently. I wanted to stay with her, but I couldn't skip those meetings, I could have gotten fired. "Do you have to go to those meetings?" "Yes I do." "What do you even do?" "I work as an intern for the Riley County Police Department. Remember how I want to become a District Attorney? Because I'm taking law since my grandparents couldn't afford law school?" I chuckled. Her eyes already started to droop as she peered up at me, laying down on the comforter. "Oh. Should I get a job?" "No, not right now. You're arm is broken. The doctor said it would take a month and a half. Plus, you need to focus on your studies." "Hey I though you wanted to become a doctor?" "I did, but it got boring. I thought maybe I could help more people by being a lawyer." I shrugged. "Oh." I looked at my watch impatiently. 2:16 PM "Alright, I have to leave now. But I will call you around 5 to make sure you're okay, alright?" I smiled and stuffed my wallet in my pocket. "Okay. Can I have ice cream for dinner?" "No. I'll order something for you to eat. You just sit there and study for your history test. You can watch TV but after you're done with your homework and you have to be in bed by 11 just in case I get home late. Understand?" I said and turned around. She nodded and I raised my eyebrow at her. "Yes Ethan, I understand." she corrected. "Good girl. I'll be back, I love you." I smiled and kissed her forehead. "I love you too." she grinned and sat on the bed, taking the PS4 controller. "Ah ah ah!" I scolded and she looked up and sat down the controller. "Homework, okay." she sighed and grabbed her backpack. "That's what I thought. Be good." I said and shut the door behind me, texting Dylan to meet me at my car. Walking through the campus I got to the elevators and pressed the garage button. "You really need a new car." Dylan said once I came into sight. "Yes well I have saved a little, but not enough for that truck that I always wanted. "Suburbans are expensive dude. And they gorge themselves on gas. Like 25 miles and you need to refill. It's ridiculous." he rolled his eyes. "I'm sure it's not that bad." I shrugged and unlocked the doors. "So, where're we off to?" he asked and sat in the passenger seat. "Well, I have to pick up my suit at the dry-cleaners. Which is conveniently in our favorite mall." I smiled. "Oh what a coincidence." he smirked and buckled his seatbelt.
...
"I still can't believe someone actually created a successful fast food restaurant chain and named it Big Belly Burger." Dylan chuckled. "They were definitely nerds, that's for sure. I mean, naming your restaurant after one from a comic book." I laughed and sipped my drink. "But a nerdy name and awesome food? I am crazy hooked." he grinned, mouthful of fries. "Agreed." I nodded and saw a girl who waved at me and winked, walking up to an ice cream place. "Oohh, dayum! Look at her!" Dylan smirked and eyed the blonde girl ordering her food. "She's not an object, and I have someone already." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah but your someone isn't here, and that hottie is." "Well I love Jade, so I don't need to even interact with her." I said and bit into my burger before I froze. "What did you just say?" Dylan smirked. "N-nothing. I said I don't wanna talk to her." I said quickly. "You said something else though." he sang. "Dylan, stop." I snapped. "Say it again and I'll drop it." "Dylan, I will kill you." "Say it." "Shut up!" "Ethan, just say it, you can't deny it." "Fine, I love Jade okay? I'm hopelessly in love with her and I can't do anything about it. Is that what you've been asking for???" I yelled. Dylan was the one friend that I had and the closest thing I had to a brother. He was so used to everything that he wasn't faced by my angriness. "See, doesn't that feel better?" he grinned. I crossed my arms and looked down. "A little." I admitted. "That's what I thought. Now why are you sitting here with me when you could go tell her that?" he shrugged. "Dylan, I can't. She doesn't even believe in love." I sighed. "And how do you know that?" "I've known her my whole life, Dylan. I know everything about her." I sighed. "Still thinks that's creepy by the way." he said rolling his eyes. "Well it's my job." "Yeah whatever. And speaking of jobs, don't you think you should get to yours?" he smirked. "Right. Well do you think you can get back to campus on your own? I don't want to leave you here." I said getting up. "I can take an Uber. They're supposed to be ridiculously reliable." he nodded. "Alright. I will see you tomorrow then." I grinned. "Good. By the way, nice job on that Algebra test. Perfect score." he winked. "You mean the one I never studied for?" I smirked. "I'm the best." he smiled and we both made our separate ways.
