We were at a nightclub, sitting at the bar when a girl walked up to me. About 23, blonde, green eyes, very pretty, but not my type.

"Hey hot stuff, what're you doin' all alone?" she purred. "Not alone, thank you. I have a girlfriend." I smiled politely, gesturing to Jade and she leaned over and smiled. "That would be me." she said awkwardly. "I don't see anyone. Anyone that's worthy of you anyways." she grinned. "Wow." Jade scoffed and I frowned. "And what makes you think you're...worthy?"  "Oh come on, I'm a ten easy. 15 when I do it right. You really don't wanna have some fun with me? I'll buy you a drink." she said with a smirk on her face. "I'm sorry, but I didn't come here to drink. I have to drive home. And once again, I say, I'm taken." "Aw that's okay sweetie," she cooed, "I can give you a taste of what you're missing." she said and downed a shot before slammed her lips onto mine. Jade got up and walked around me, pushing the girl off and slamming her into the counter. "What in the hell do you think you're doing?!" she yelled. "Well I'm trying to save him from a slut like you that's what!" the girl snapped. "Excuse me?" "You heard me! He's better off. Don't worry, I won't keep him for too long, 15 minutes at the most." she rolled her eyes. "If you lay one more dirty,  5 dollar fingertip on him, I will cut you." she threatened and the girl laughed. "Try me." she smirked and kissed me again before Jade ripped her away, slapping her in the face. "You bitch!!!" she yelled and tackled her and I gasped, quickly getting out of my chair. "Holy crap, dude what happened?" Dylan asked as he jogged up to me, like at least 45 others, watching the scene unfold. "I-I don't know, this girl she came up and started hitting on me a-and I said no and she kept going and Jade got mad and then they started fighting, Jesus s**t what do I do?!?" I rushed out and Dylan giggled slightly before I hit him on the arm. "Ouch!! Damn, but hey it looks like Jade's winning. That chick's got two black-eyes. But give it 15 more seconds before Jade actually kills her." Dylan shrugged. "Would she do that?" "She killed her father man." he said, a bit quieter. "That was very different and oh my god she's gonna kill 'er!" I yelled and Dylan shoved his beer in my hand and pulled the two apart. He dragged Jade back while she was kicking in screaming. "THE NEXT TIME YOU EVEN LOOK AT HIM I WILL REALLY KILL YOU!!!" she kept yelling and someone else dragged the other girl back and she ran off. Dylan let go and Jade ran into the parking lot and I followed. "Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stu-" "Jade?!" I yelled and she turned around. "What? I didn't actually kill her! She just may or may not need to go to the hospital, but it's her fault! Maybe next time she won't hit on guys that are happily taken." she shrugged with a proud smile on her face. I glared at her and fished out my keys, pulling her by the arm into the parking lot. "In the car. NOW." I growled and she furrowed her eyebrows and got in and I slammed the door. "I can not believe you could do that." "What?" "You could've killed her!" "Like I said, her fault. Ethan don't drive angry you're gonna get us killed." she warned and I pressed on the gas pedal. "She was innocent-" "She KISSED YOU?!?!" "And I didn't kiss back and yet you think that violence is the answer?" "I gave her one chance. One f**king chance and she blew it and she paid the price!" she yelled and I rolled my eyes, getting out of the car and marching up to the dorm. "Do you honestly think that I knock out every guy that hits on you?" I yelled and she shut the front door and turned to me. "Yes." and my face fell. "Not every one. "I mumbled. "But most, Ethan! Can you shut up and think about this for a second? We are two more than attractive people with more than attractive qualities that many people around us notice. And when men who notice my more than attractive qualities talk to me you get upset and usually resort to violence. Yet when women notice your more than attractive qualities and I get upset and resort to violence you are mad at me? How the hell does that makes sense???" she screamed and stormed up to the bedroom and I heard the door slam. I sighed and leaned on the counter, running a hand through my hair. "Goddammit." I mumbled and looked at the clock.

11:43 PM December 31st, 2013

I walked glumly to the couch and lay down, my phone dinging.

Did you leave the bar?

I sighed and texted him back, tears brimming my eyes.

She was right.

Right about what? And don't say "You don't really care do you?" because I do care and you really have no one else to vent to so I would suggest to spill the black, brown, Lima, green, and kidney beans. As well as any other kinds you have.

I smiled at his joke and typed in everything that happened.

Oh wow, you really are an idiot.

Dylan!

Sorry sorry. But you know I'm not on your side. She was right. And now she's mad, and Now you're sleepin' on the couch.

Thanks for that.

Always here for ya bro.

I put the phone down and and walked upstairs to see the bedroom door open. I hesitantly walked in and saw that she was in the bathroom, showering. I sat down on the bed and sighed as I heard the water turn off. I put on my pajamas, and took one of my favorite pillows off of the bed, assuming that I was sleeping on the couch. I walked to the banister and threw the pillow downstairs before turning around to see her walking through her her underwear rummaging through the closet. She was looking for her slippers. I saw them laying by the bed and picked them up, tapping on her and handing them to her. She turned around and looked at them and back at me and took them. "Thanks." she mumbled and walked off. I gulped and took one more pillow before turning on the screen of my phone.

11:53 PM

A few friends from England texted me "Happy New Year!" and I smiled, turning off my phone and sulked downstairs, turning on the TV, seeing the freezing newscaster blab on about all of the resolutions and events in the coming year.

11:56 PM

Jade came downstairs and made two fruit cocktails, setting on on the coffee table and sipping the other one. "Thanks." I mumbled and she nodded.

11:58 PM

She put down the drink and sighed, watching the newscaster giggle about the upcoming year.

10, 9, 8,

"I don't wanna begin a year in a fight." I sighed. "Me neither." she nodded.

7, 6, 5,

"Can we just make up before midnight?" I smiled weakly. "I guess." she said vacantly.

4,3, 2,

"I'm sorry I got mad at you." "I think I'm in love with you."

1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

We both turned our head to look at each other at the same time.

"What?"
