"Hey, babe?" I asked. "Jade?" She continued scrolling through her Twitter feed, eventually falling into my lap. "Love?" I smirked and she looked up immediately. "Huh? Oh sorry, guess I'm just used to you calling me stupid pet names." she giggled. "Why do you love me?" I asked. I hated the question, it made me feel so weak and desperate, but I did really want to know. "I think I just realized that we've been saying I love you without even realizing it.." she mumbled. "But you mean besides you being every girl's dream?" she chuckled. "What?" She frowned at me and raised her eyebrows. "You seriously don't see it? Don't you ever look in the mirror?" "Of course I do. I don't see what you mean." "Oh you're so hot when you're confused about obvious things. I remember when I had to explain to you what cheese popcorn was." she laughed. "Don't you notice the groups of girls that stare at you when you walk past?" "Which is very uncomfortable at times. It's like they're pointing out all of my flaws." I frowned sadly. "You mean lack there of. And all those whispers and giggles all the time?" "Well, maybe sometimes." "Haven't you seen those chick flicks about girls falling in love with tall, hot businessmen who secretly have this soft and cuddly interior?" she asked, now sitting up in front of me. "Is that how you would describe me?" I blushed. Where were all of these compliments coming from? "Well that's how you are. I'm mean you're like 6'3-" "6'5 actually." "And you were a sports champion in high school," "Well not champion..." "And you have these huge biceps and a six pack and you're handsome and you're British, Ethan! You do not understand the power you have over me just from your voice!" she exaggerated. I started giggling and shook my head. "You're crazy." "I just wonder what you'll do with this new found information." she said. "I don't even know what to say." "Well that Emily chick might be interested in your swashbuckling charm." she shrugged. "What does swashbuckling mean?" "I'll tell you later." she chuckled. "Either way, I'm not in love with Emily. I am in love with you." I grinned and kissed her cheek softly. She glanced at me for a second and smiled. "Why did I think you were going to say something else..." she chuckled to herself and crawled into my arms. "You are in so deep with me.." "Excuse me?!?" I gasped, almost spitting out my water. "What? Ethan it, it just means that you're really really in love with someone and you'd do absolutely anything for them. Even stupid little things that they could do themselves." she explained quickly and I sighed in relief. "I wasn't talking about sex. That's comes later tonight." she giggled. "Being, in too deep, you said it like it was bad. Is it?" "Well not really I guess. People just make fun of it cause it doesn't happen a lot." she said. "Well I know it definetly happened with me." I smiled. "You would do anything for me?" she smiled and I nodded. "Of course I would." "Like...anything?" she asked hopefully. "Yes, what do you have in mind?" "Well, don't you have other meetings to go to?" "No, I'm free all day." "Oh, cause I feel extra needy today." she grinned. "Aw well, I'm right here love." I laughed and pulled her into my lap. "Are you sure? I have looots of needs." "That's what I'm here for. What would you like to do first?" "Can we watch Big Hero 6 today?" "Only if you'll cuddle with me." "Yay!"

*3 and a Half Hours Later*

I was washing my hands after going to the bathroom when I heard a feminine voice call out. "Ethan, babe? You here?" It wasn't at all like Jade's, in fact it was a Boston accent. I was about to walk out when Jade got up and leaned in the archway. "Who are you?" "I could be asking the same question..." she replied. I opened the door to look at who it was. Evelyn. My ex from a year ago. "I'm Ethan's girlfriend." Jade said. "I'm Ethan's girlfriend. Well, ex-girlfriend. But we're working things out." she explained. "Oh, you must be Eve. Ethan told me about you." Jade nodded and Evelyn face dropped. "You're his rebound. Oh, sorry." she mumbled and I lgared at her. Walking out of the bathroom and into the arch Jade sat on the island, looking at me for an explanation. "Evelyn, what are you doing here?" I asked. "Can we talk outside?" she asked and nodded. "Alright. But I have to make her lunch so I'd be quick." I shrugged and opened the front door, both of us walking out. The second I shut the door, I could hear the pitter-patter of Jade's feet and I felt her lean on the door. I saw her eye peering through the peephole an I looked at Evelyn. "What exactly are you doing here Evelyn?" "Ethan, god I sound so desperate, but I wanna get back together." "Get back together? With who?" I frowned, tilting my head in confusion. "God you are so cute when you're confused about blatanly obvious things." she smiled Why does everyone say that? "With you! I was hoping that we could give it another try." she said hopefully. "Eve, Jade's my girlfriend." "What?" "Jade. The girl that was in the dorm?" "That girl? She's so...little. She doesn't seem very mature." "Yes, well I love her the way she is." I smiled. "Ethan, you don't need her. You need someone mature and responsible. From the looks of it, she can barely take care of ehrself. How in the world can she take care of you?" "Evelyn, that's just it. I don't want her taking care of me. I don't want anyone taking care of me. If I really need it from time to time, I can let someone. But most of the time I'd rather be dominant than submissive. I actually like being the caregiver in the relationship." I explained and she sighed. "One day Ethan. One day you're gonna wake up and be tired of her childishness and when you do, I'll be here." she said and stalked off. I felt terrible for being so mean, but it was the truth. I breathed out and ran a hand through my hair, walking back into the house where Jade jumped back and sat on the island. "I know you were listening." I said and she smiled weakly. "What? No, I was eating candy." she shrugged nonchalantly. "Really? Bcause we haven't even had lunch yet, and I don't remember saying that you were allowed to." I smirked and she blushed. "Okay, well I wasn't actually eating candy." "Then you were..." "Listening through the door. She's right you know." "About what?" "Eve said I was too immature and unresponsible." "Irresponsible is the word." I corrected, "But that's what makes me love you so much!" "But what if I'm, not enough for you? Don't you think you deserve an adult? You work so hard at this ten hour job and still have to attend classes and maintain good grades and still take care of me! Don't you realize that you're overworking yourself??" she yelled and got up, starting to pace around frantically. "Love-" "God Ethan you're such an idiot! Don't you hate worrying about whether or not I remembered to eat lunch or whether I bathed or slept? Don't you think it's tiring to always have to worry about whether or not he's really happy taking care of you or is it all just an act I mean you could just up and leave me at any moment and there's nothing I could do about it and everytime we walk by there's girls making googly eyes at you and I just think Well maybe he'd be happier with that random skank I mean it's obvious that she wouldn't be stupid enough to break her freaking arm by trying to open a coconut! Maybe that skank would be easier than me cause that's what you want isn't it? Someone easier? Someone you don't have to take care of all the time! Maybe that's why everytime you come home you have this tired face like you don't wanna see me! Or you're always stressed out Maybe you'd be better off without me!" she ranted. I blinked harshly and sat down in one of the barstools. sighed shakily and looked down. "I'm sorry I yelled at you." she mumbled. "It's alright. Is that really how you feel?" I asked quietly. "Mm no.." she lied. "Are you sure?" "no..." "Love it's alright if you-" " I wanna go to bed." she mumbled and walked into the bedroom. I followed her through the arch and grabbed her waist, pulling her into my chest. "Jade, look at me." I said sternly, and she looked up, her eyes filled with tears. "Is that really how you feel?" I asked again and she nodded. "I feel terrible!" she whined and started sobbing into my shirt. "Oh my poor princess, it's alright! I cooed. "I feel like such a failure!" "You're not a failure at all love." "Oh stop, you're just saying that." she said and I pulled away, looking into her eyes. "You aren't a failure, and you shouldn't feel terrible at all. Not for telling me how you feel." I smiled. "B-but, I'm nots 'aposedtayellatyou!" she whimpered. "No you aren't but I know you didn't mean to darling. And you said you're sorry didn't you?" I said and she nodded. "Exactly. Now, c'mon." I said and carried her to the bed. Taking off of my pants and climbing into bed she cuddled into me immediately, and I could tell that she was starting to fall asleep. "I know you're tired, but I want you to try and listen carefully, okay?" I said and she nodded. "I love you just the way you are. I love taking care of you all the time, and protecting you and playing with you when you're in your little space, which is most of the time. And do you know why? Well it's because you are in your happiest state. All of that pain and heartbreak that you've had to suffer through, it all goes away. You're in your purest form. And when you are, you choose me to be the luckiest man in the world and I get to take care of you. And that must be the greatest treasure in the entire universe. It doesn't matter how many girls stare at me when I walk by, because I will always be staring at you." I said stroking her hair. "But, doesn't it get hard? Carrying all of the big stuff by yourself?" she asked. "Oh, well sometimes it gets hard, but I wouldn't have it any other way." "Yes princess, really. So I want you to be in yor little space as much as you want. You can go to sleep, and I'm going to call in sick for the week at work. And then we can do whatever you want tomorrow okay?" "Like, princess day?" "Yes, like princess day. "Okay, only if you can have Daddy day." she smiled and looked at me. Daddy. Hm.... She had never called me Daddy before. But it seemed like it fit. And it did feel, nice. "That sounds lovely." She grinned and it was like she had read my mind. "Yay! Thank you Daddy." she ggigled and kissed my neck. "You're welcome baby girl."
